Real impressive here........if it wasn't for his thugs jumping in, the video wouldn't have lasted as long as it did................
Steve, he didn't have it sunk in deep since after 30 seconds he was still awake. The thugs only jumped in cause they didn't know a thing about chokes. they were expecting a punch only fight just like the others Kimbo had fought. They fought w/ rules like the "Any Which Way But Loose" movie rules.

You could tell who the referee favored in the Kimbo fight just by how the fight was called. I'm not a big Kimbo fan, but watching him the past few weeks, I don't understand all the hatred towards him. He's a decent fighter with a bright future. Keep in mind he came from nothing and is now one of the biggest MMA stars.

I think people are getting confused with what promoters are spewing and what Kimbo is actually saying. He truly seems like a humble person, and he still has a lot to learn. He should be fighting others at his skill level and not be thrown to the wolves. EliteXC should not be promoting him as hard as they have been, and Kimbo definitely did not earn the main event yet. Give him some time. Not all the things you hear are coming from Kimbo. More than likely it's makreting hype anding fuel to the fire.

Give Kimbo a chance.

Google for 'Kimbo vs Gannon', from way back in the day. Kimbo loses upright, straight punches.

I believe that is the one with the cop indoors that lasts about 9 min? That was a farce. It wasnts straight up barenuckle boxing which was the point of that fight. He knees and just choked kimbo... now if it was upright kimbo would have won. (again the chokes just showed kimbo needs endurance, but it wasnt a "straight up" fight.

Kimbo is a nice guy but he has a better chance in the boxing ring than the octagon. Kimbo is what Tank Abbott was and you just have to do more than look for that knock-out punch.

That's prolly the main reason why Kimbo can't be an ultimate fighter because he's one dimensional. Might be too late for him(age) to learn to fight the better fighters out there. He should go into boxing where there isn't a real dominant heavyweight.

That is why he is training with El Guapo (Bas Rutten). It takes time to develop skill and a lot of time to be proficient in Jiu Jitsu. Hell, I have trained in BJJ for over a year and wouldn't even begin to think I could take some of these guys on the ground or even be competitive. Give him some time. He has some raw talent, he is a diamond in the rough, but with the right training this guy could be the man to beat.

Well put, I think his strength is undeniable, lets wait and see if he can learn to work the mats more. The best MMA fighters seem to be able to work on the mat as well as striking. Kimbo has the striking part down and he has good hand movement, but until he can learn body positioning and how submissions work....

Now I always loved watching Igor Vovchanchyn. Kimbo should train with him :D (wow his submissions.....I cant even see them coming half the time)

Agreed couldnt have put it better myself. MMA requires good ground work to succeed either in being a proficient submissioner or escaper at least

That's my point. If he was in his twenties maybe, but he's too old to play catchup. Their are fighters who fight "mano y mano" and then theirs fighters who fight to win. I have a golfer buddy I grew up with who looks just like your typical golfer and even though I'm bigger than him, I would never fight him cause he's one of those who fights to win and if he starts crying, LOOK OUT!!! You'll have thumbs in the eyeballs and what have you!:eek2:

gcarroll, I agree that mma has to stop becoming a spectacle. I was at the Showtime XC event this Saturday in Newark. The fans that were their to see Kimbo were more of a WWE crowd than an mma crowd. They were Booing the Smith-Lawler fight in the first and second rounds because no one was knocked out with a haymaker within 30 seconds. I've been around MMA for a long time and I think Elite XC brought an overhyped, poorly skilled main event to many Americans who know nothing about MMA. I think they presented the exact opposite of what MMA fighters have become over the years: well trained, skilled, hard working athletes. Not street thugs throwing haymakers. I think Kimbo is a good guy, but I think Elite XC did damage to the sport trying to avoid going bankrupt. The other fights were very good, but most people were only talking about Kimbo today.

To a certain point I don't think age has much to do with it. If you are mid 40's trying to get into the game sure, but I don't think he is too old. You got people like Randy who are in thier 40's who are still fighting and winning. He has the killer instinct still and he has composure when he is getting beat. Those I think are the most important things. I didn't see him throw any illegal blows or pull out any BS moves in the fight. I think as long as he is dedicated to making himself a better fighter, he will be a force in MMA.

I think Kimbo is a good guy,
Agreed. Some of you guys make Kimbo out to be this terrible thug. You guys should watch more interviews on him and less of the youtube outtakes. You'll never see the best out of anybody when they're fighting.

But Randy's been doing this for awhile. I don't think he started older than everyone else.

Well, we shall see if he wants to go forward with this knowing it will only get tougher.

IMO Kimbo is to "big" to be taken seriously as a MMA fighter. He appears to hit the weights quite often, which IMO doesn't give you an advantage in MMA. He needs to slim down which would make him more flexible & quicker. I can't see him pulling off or defending the standard bjj moves being as big as he is.

Kimbo is a nice guy, not really a thug. Unfortunately judges don't score fighters on thier attitude. If they did, Tito would have never won a fight..... :D

MMA is far from fake, but as long as they put a 3-0 street fighter against a 4-7 fighter as the main event, it is a mockery...............

Actually Dat, Fedor's faught in the States before at Pride 32. That was held in Las Vegas.

That bit that Kimbo being too big is a bit far fetched.

That's like saying Liddell has a beer belly therefore...

or BJ Penn can never be good because he's not cut like Sean Sherk.

Urijah Faber is like a smaller version of Kimbo and he's a monster.

As long as you can excel at whatever you're good at and can neutralize whatever the opponents throw at you, that is what will keep you at the top of the rankings. Look at Karo Parysian, he looks like your regular joe schmoe but he's awesome. Mark Hunt looks like an overweight beer drinker but he has awesome take-down defense, a hard chin, thunder thighs that can knock your head off, and I'm sure no one who's seen him fight will say that he's a pushover.

Mark Hunt was a hard match for Fedor. I think with some more ground skills, Hunt could have a good chance against Fedor.

Yup, Mark Hunt is a hard match for anybody. I hope he gets back to fighting soon, it's such a shame that the fall of Pride left so many exciting fighters stranded, e.g. Takanori Gomi, Josh Barnett, Mark Hunt even Fedor....

Mark Hunt's built like a tank:
