I don't know if its something other than that disk; the disk repair said it was failing. I still can get the machine to boot every once in a while, but it takes forever to do so. I only use my computer for photoshopping and internet. I keep all the originals in the flash card, and just buy a new one when its full, so doing an erase install wasn't a problem. I did that after disk repair was fixing something the third, forth, fifth, time I ran it, and it was taking forever. Installing OSX again did nothing and then the disk came up "failing" I've seen the instructions for installing a new hd; I've been to the bottom of my old pizmo changing the card holding the plug, and the change in my 12" aluminum looks like a ton more screws and fragile connectors to keep track of. I'll likely go that route; I do have another of the same 867 whose disk sounded like it snapped a couple years ago, so hopefully between the two and a new hd I could get one working. I was just throwing this out there in case there was something that wouldn't cost too much more than my trouble, but thanks a lot for the link that's a larger disk than the ones I priced at the same money.
