OT- looking for a mastiff

Off topic but does anyone know anyone locally that has english or american mastiff pups to give away or for sale? We have had alot of thieving and mischief going on in the neighborhood, not to us particularly but the wife and I agree that our girls are old enough now to have a dog and we want something that would be good around them but good guard dogs as well. If you guys know of any please message me.

Have you considered checking rescue's? I don't know of any at the moment, but the few people I know that has gotten a Mastiff end up getting ride of them in a short time because they were just not prepared to deal with the size.

We had a Boxer which we got from the local rescue and she was fantastic. Not a cute as a puppy, but she completely bonded with me in a short time. I had no doubt she would defend us with every bit of her being... as long as she woke up. lol With an adult dog you usually don't get any suprises with their personalities.

Do you know if Mastiff's make good guard dogs? I don't know either way, but I have heard they tend to be lazy dogs that lay around a sleep a lot. Need very little exercise.

Yes I've been researching for the last 8-10 months about these dogs and I think they fit the description of what we're looking for very well. I love huge dogs myself so I'm fully prepared for a dog this size. From everything I've read about them they are very protective of their families if an occasion should arise. Is there a website of local rescues? I would be happy to adopt an adult mastiff just as well if I could find a full stock one.

Jason, get a boxer, boxers are the bomb. My dog is so smart, and it can be 3 in the morning and if anyone steps on my porch hes at the door in a flash. Best dog I have ever had aound kids as well. I'll keep an eye out for you a mastiff though.

get a boerboel an african mastiff they are the best.
