OT - Macro of my cat's eye

Not a Cynarina, but an actual cat :) My cat was trying to take a nap the other day and I was in his face with my 100mm macro. I wasn't trying to get a self portrait but I was pleasently surprised once I got the pic on the comp. Thankfully he was still for the one second exposure. Enjoy!

(1 second, F/6.3, ISO 400, -2/3 Exposure comp)

Nope, I was in the reflection. You can see my TV to the very right, some cords across the floor, a chair, and the blinds in his whole eye. I'm not that good in PS :)

Blazer, are you a CRT or LCD kind of guy? I'm starting to wonder if my screen is calibrated too dark. I couldn't see the TV until I bumped up my screen's brightness significantly. It's an LCD, so the biggest fight I had was simply warming the image in the first place. I was die-hard CRT for a long time, and still would be, were I doing this professionally, but the space savings and ease on the eyes was worth more than color accuracy at this point.

Edit: Oh, and that's a great shot. Too bad YOU couldn't sit still for a full second. :) Is that your hand still on the tripod?!

Yep, that's my hand holding the tripod. I do all of my editing on a CRT (calibrated the best I can) which comes out much darker than my dell laptop. My laptop tends to lack contrast and is much brighter. Can everyone else see the reflections other than just me in the pic? And thanks for the comments guys!

That shot is insane...I was thinking it may have been Photoshop until I realized you could see shadows. Very nice pic.

I can see the reflections no prob. But then again, I have a nice CRT. I just cant give it up for an LCD.

Great shot

Gotta give you mega-props for that incredible macro shot Blazer! You were extremely fortunate to have your cat sit still for so long. You SURE you didn't give it some extra catnip or something???

Excellent shot! Your macro skills are simply wonderful. What really amazes me is how centered your image is within the cat's eye....talk about a one-in-a-million shot.

I hear ya, I don't think I'll ever get this same shot again! I caught him when he was nice and sleepy so he wouldn't move much :) I would wait for him to close his eyes and then I would make a noise so he would look at me, I didn't expect it to work but it did the trick. Surprisingly I only tried this shot once and it came out the first time. Never discount the effectiveness of boredom!
