Hello everyone, this is Waaay off topic but i'd figure i'd ask here since everyone here is local. I used to take martial arts (karate and kung fu) way back in the day, and i want to get back into some type of martial arts and i figured someone on this board could possibly recommend a good school. I'm only really intrested in Ju Jitsu, Ninjitsu, Judo, or Chinese Kung Fu. I'm also thinking about joining the USF aikido club at USF.

Please let me in on any advice and i appreciate it ahead of time.

I know a teacher who trains kinda one on one. Thats probably the only way I learn anything. But let me know Gimplar, he also stays in Town and Country which is a little too far for me. PM me for more info..

One of the guys that works for me is (was) a competitive martial arts fighter. In fact, he was a "world class" fighter and actually traveled all over this country and overseas to compete. Unfortunately, hip replacement 2 years ago ended that (late 20's...tough sport)

Anyway......he said there is an exceptional Ju Jitsu class inside Calta's Fitness center (corner of Florida Ave and Bearss Ave) The name of the Ju Jitsu center there is "Gracie Tampa", and the owner is supposed to be one of the pioneers of that sport. May be something you want to look into.

(BTW - he also said if you are looking for something for self defense, you should probably stay away from Kung Fu (and something else, I forgot). He said with these you will take a lot of lessons, spend a lot of $$, and still get you a$$ kicked in a fight.)

I remember the Gracie's from the Ultimate FIghting days. I think there were a few brothers and they were all pretty badass.

Oh, i know kung fu isn't focused on selfdefence, its more for meditation and balancing ones self. And i know Ju Jitsu isnt really like the matrix lol, it's more of a grappling art, if im not mistaken.

Very cool Angelsil, Muay Tai fighters are so hardcore lol.

Almost all my friends are in martial arts, one of them being Steven Accola who won the US open in kick boxing a few years ago as well as Amir.
