OT: My Laptop And Vista

buy used. Though my company bought a few off ebay and had the feds come into the shop a week later letting us know they are evidence and the computers were coming with them. But don't let it sway you, there are plenty that upgrade and sell cheap legit. The only reason buying used is slightly difficult is because most people don't get rid of them, because they are that much better. I'd take an old mac vs. a brand new PC any day of the week. Well, there are some PC's that I may consider :) let's not get retarded about it shall we/
 
I'm not a fan of mac and that's really not the issue here.
However, I hate vista. Not sure why you can't reformat that HD???

Are you getting errors in your device manager? Find the name of your soundcard and go find the driver for it

Just checking but you don't have volume or wave muted or turned all the way down, do you?
 
so basically if you want to continue to use your laptop with windows you have to

erase everything you have on there (or else take the HDD out and transfer the data to another HDD, and that's not a PITA at all)

then figure out what sound card is inside your laptop

then use another computer to get online and find the driver, download it, burn it to a disc or a flash drive

then what? how do you put the driver on the computer if you can't get any OS to work on it?
 
I would personally just put xp on it. It's not that big of a pain, just not sure why he's getting errors.

He also doesn't need to use another computer, jump drive, etc... to download that driver if he's able to get online
 
I think the problem is that he doesn't want to reformat

so since he installed vista, it won't let him downgrade it back to XP w/o reformatting

and Im assuming he's trying to avoid reformatting
 
nope i reformatted my drive. twice! both full reformats not the quick one. still wont let me. its unbelievable. i have no idea why.

That looks cool where did you get that?

My laptop is about 2 years old and it time for me to wipe it clean and reinstall.. Clean up all the old downloads I don't use anymore wasting space.
 
ha actually it took a little bit of a process. then i found an easier way... go figure. ill explain let me go look at the page and get the links real quick. and no its a "skin" that overrides XP settings and makes third party settings available. VERY cool. there is a huge list of themes. mine is OS Panther by Mac.

(this is not recommended for the computer illiterate or technologically challenged)
