OT: My vivarium project........

I tried egg crating but that just as expensice as plexi and doesnt keep the humidity in like plexi. Humidty is the key to keeping frogs happy......

I see shows how much I know about frogs! So too much humidity and the glass fogs up not enough and the frogs die! WOW why not get one of those cigar humidors and put them in there where you can control the humidity! :D

waverz,

A few suggestions. If you g/f and you can stand having 1000+ crickets in the house I suggest ordering them online. Put them in a cheap rubbermaid tote with some cardboard and other small things. This is rediculously cheaper than paying 3.00 a dozen at the pet stores. Lookup "breeding crickets" on google and it will explain. You just keep wet cardboard. A small tub of water and feed them some greens (i.e. lettuce, carrots, etc) and they will last for months and months.

Also for the treefrogs climbing past the top I would look at vasoline. I know chameleons (among other climbing lizards) won't climb past it. It may keep them off the ceiling and allow you to ventilate a little more. I'm not sure if it will work for frogs I just figured I would suggest it.

Sorry if my ramblings aren't useful ...

Uhm yeah, we dont have that kind of room to store 1000 crickets, the small crickets are cheap at pet smart. I think they are only like $.08 apiece.

Thanks though.......

another problem with using egg crate would be the fact that if you do feed live crickets, they will surely get out. Me and my buddy had probably about 20 lizards/frogs in our last place and they can get out of almost any enclosure, they love to chew holes in soft plastic, I also don't know if petsmart feeds their crickets, because your frogs can only be as healthy as what the crickets are eating, so "gut loading" is usually suggested.

I gut loaded my crickets for my chameleons, they sell little cricket cases that have tubs in them, you can get a couple dozen at a time and keep them in there with some cricket meal and your frogs will be happy as .....well frogs
Just my personal experience

Well, green tree frogs kinda suck....apparently they only come out at night and we never get to see them. I know they are in there cause they have been eating the wax worms and crickets ive been putting in there.

Heres a few pics i took tonite.

I might be getting some azureus frogs in a cpl months, they are neon blue and should be alot easier to see than the green tree frogs i have now.............

that is a pretty cool project ya got there. I tried my hand at keeping some rare venus fly traps and it ended pretty quickly ;p

I definitely don't have a green thumb at all.

But that vivarium thingy is pretty sweet!

Duke, all the plants came from blackjungle.com.....
You should stop by and check it out sometime. My mom wants to get your test kit back to you as well........
