Does anyone know where I could get some big landscaping rocks.

Besides Mr. Mulch on 161..

Are you looking for boulder style, or flat rocks like on your sidewalk?

Thanks btw, this looks like some great dirt. Guess I have a little to move ;)

Eric, so is this dirt for your front yard flower beds?

Partially flower beds, partially for neighbor's beds, mostly for expanding my garden out back significantly. I was having such a hard time in the MI garbage, I'm building an above ground garden instead.

I think I've dumped all over formanbob's thread

Man, that really took off. My section I planted last weekend is almost completely filled in. I also filled a 20x20 low spot yesterday that will hopefully take off as well.

I did a total kill off and reseed about four years ago. I used Round Up and then a slice seeder. It looks great now. My only suggestion is to airate first, then apply the seed at about two times the recommendation. ( by this I mean hit yout lawn twice, three times with the seeder in different directions) Turf Type Fescues don't spread like other grasses.

PS....

Your neighbors will think you are nuts...until next Spring when you have the nicest lawn on the block. We get compliments all the time.

Hey Eric did you ever find out where your neighbor got his big rocks from?

Mr. Mulch as well.

Thanks! This is exactly what I plan on doing...
Thanks for the airation tip!
Did you use a turf-type fescue?

Yea, I used a Pennington product that I got at Lowes. 100% tall fescue turf type. In the Fall of 05' I overseeded with another 80# of seed. Lawn looks great. Only down side is that the lawn is sooo thick that it clogs the mower when I try to mulch. Now it is bagging only for me.

If you plan on a kill off, I'd do it in August. Then a follow up a week later. Mid Sept. is a perfect time for seeding. The soil is still warm, but the sun is not usually scorching. A good starter fertilizer is a must also.

Also, remember, if you have used a Pre-Emergent crab grass preventor, you'll need to wait at least 90-120 days after that to reseed. If not, you seed will not grow.

Good Luck!!
