Yea my monitor is 20 inches.....

From front to back though:o oollllddd schooool.

If you use an extra-long VGA cable, you will have a crazy amount of picture quality degradation. The further it is, the worse it will get.
Why do you want the box so far away? You might be better off just getting a laptop and use some sort of remote-desktop utility (ie: PC Anywhere, VNC, etc) to log into your main box. Just depends on your situation really.

I run25 and 50' VGA cables almost every day and its fine. For longer runs, or runs that you have to split the signal then a VGA DA should be used. Good luck.

Keyboards and mice made by Gyration (Comp USA, Fry's) has a 100' range. I use it all the time for my Media Center TV.

At work we use 50' VGA cables as well with no loss of VGA quality. Just make sure the cables are shielded and thick.

Can I buy the Video cable at Fry OC?

Simon

I think Fry's sells the video cable but it wont be cheaper than monoprice.com for $20.00 shipped (50 ft). Monoprice is local as well.

Just wondering what type of TV,LCD or HDTV do you have your PC hooked up to? I'm planning on buying a new TV & planning to run Windows media center as well.

My projection TV has DVI inputs as well as my video card DVI output so that is what Im using right now. Resolution is 720x480 because any higher then the text is unclear even though my projection is HD ready. On my plasma tv then its another story. I can go to a higher resolution and text is still super sharp. Dont use S-Video or composite input for hooking up your media center. I think the trend now is towards HDMI inputs.

My Directv is hooked up to my media center so I can record Directv programing via my pc. You can also get a HD tuner card to record HD channels off the air. Currently you can not record HD channels from directv. I have a wireless mouse and keyboard to control my pc from the dining room table.

www.thegreenbutton.com is a great site for media center info for DIY.

I picked up a 100' video cable triple shielded and I works fine. I also need to have the serial or the mouse/keboard about 50'. Will long serial or key/mouse work? Thanks All!

Simon

Most wireless range is 5 meters and thats if nothing is blocking the signal. Bluetooth range is 30 feet. I have a keyboard/mouse from Gyration which goes to 100 feet. Compusa sells these. If Im not mistaken Compusa has a moonlight madness 4 hour sale (6pm to 10pm) and one of the sale items is 25% off all wireless Keyboard/mice.

Many many THANKS! :) The 50' cable works GREAAAT! :)

Now I need help locating the serial cable 50' from the computer. Will this work? Are there 50' serial cable. This is for a touch screen monitor :)

Thanks again!
