OT: need mechanical support of broke down 02 trailblazer

Looks like NYs salt took it's toll on the power steering cooler. Part is not available and we are 2.5 miles from home. I cut down a 3/8" brake line, had it bent into a U and bypassed the cooler.

My concern is whether or not this is part of the high pressure circuit.

Most of the drive is highway. I don't mind a trickle, preferably not a full release.

Test is parking lot looks good, went side to side while in park and not a drip.

Any thoughts?

It should be fine if you got the clamps tight if you have any trouble get a small peice with flares at each end and high compression clamps

You bring up a good point on the clamps, I'll put some screw clamps on there!

Just need to get home. We were planning on putting a for sale sign on t Tuesday anyhow, price just went down :(

Lol. The funny things that we decided 2 days ago to sell the trailblazer and 98 Malibu to get a newer winter car and then get my wife a 200 convertible next year after they have a year of production on them. Then the truck brakes literally disintegrate 3 days ago, new rotor & caliper, then the lights go crazy the next day, and then yesterday the power steering cooler goes. I think the truck is getting revenge!

any line of the power steering is under pressure. It might not be while the car is idling but when you turn, its deff under some pressure. The worst case scenario though if all fails is that you will only lose steering power and it shouldnt harm the pump or any other engine parts.

I hope this helps!

why drop the price because the power steering doesn't work?

why drop the price because the power steering doesn't work?

it's a positive selling point: makes for a great workout of your triceps and upper torso while doing the commute!
