OT-New toy

LCD's do not have a "pure" black back ground...They are better when you have lots light reflection since they dont have glass as the screen, they have plastic. Cost of a good large LCD is higher then same size and quality plasma.

Both have stands and/or can be mounted on the wall.

hahaha this again? I have been using my 42" 1080p Sharp Aquos LCD for 3 months now, and it is AMAZING. After a discount voucher that I got in the mail, I only paid $2020 with tax, and I think it is worth every penny. Im remodeling this floor of the house soon, just to make a sweet spot for it to be wall mounted with the surround sound cables and everything hidden. PS3 and Xbox on this tv ROCKS. You are all welcome to come by and check it out, for the small fee of a zoanthid frag... hahahaha ;)

The LCD sits on a stand, right? Not wall mounted? Man, I think I'm gonna go check those out tomorrow night, I wonder how long it would take Comcast to come over and get me hooked up to HD!

Watching the Super Bowl at home, HD would be very cool.

It only takes as long as it takes you to drive to the closest bill pay center. Just go there and ask them for the HD box or the HD DVR. drive home and hook it up.

It comes with the stand or you can remove it and buy a bracket to hang it.

Actually the Vizio has a built in Digital and Analog tuner. You do not need a cable box to get HD.

I have the 47 hanging in my bedroom. All I did is hook the Comcast cable to it and it gets all the channels. The digital channels is where the HD is. 1080i works great with no box.

Ted, if I have digital cable now with no HD, I don't have to do a thing? I thought you had to subscribe to get the HD channels in HD.
If you're right, it makes it that much easier!

I do subscribe to the HD channels. I have a box down on my main TV. I love the DVR functions.

I am not sure what would happen if I did not subscribe to the HD for the additional 7 bux a month or whatever it is. My guess is it would work either way. I do know up till recently you needed a box to get the digital channels and HD channels. When I hooked up my new bedroom TV and office TV (just got them a week or so ago) all I did was hook the cable to them and it got ALL the digital and HD channels without a box.

The channels are wierd though. The numbers are like 114.1, 114.2, 114.3, 119.2, etc.

The Sony I have in the office will let you label them to stop the confusion. The Vizio does not have a label feature. We are already starting to know the channels though.

The digital auto channel search is slow too. Takes about 45 mins to go through the digital search.
