OT: Now that Halloween is over...

...And turkey day is almost upon us, let us discuss Christmas trees. Alot of people put them up as a post thanksgiving tradition. So, artificial or real?

We have been going with a pre-lit 8' slim artificial tree for several years, but last year 1/2 the lights wouldnt light. So thinking real this year. Just dont want to mess with the pine needles and having a new baby.

We have artificial trees. Like you said the needles falling dont appeal to me. Plus the late warm weather this year makes me fearful of bringing in insects with the real trees.

We do a real tree some years as well because we love the smell. The needles are rarely a problem because we have a little blanket decorated in Christmas themes that catches most needles.

For as long as I can remember I have had real trees for Christmas. The smell of the tree reminds me of childhood Christmas. I have carried that tradition on until about 10 years ago when we adopted a rescue dog. The first two years, we kept the tradition alive and bought or cut down our own tree (from a tree farm). Looking back it's funny now, but it wasn't funny when the dog ****ed on the tree and presents. I thought we could break our Stanley from peeing on the tree, but I realized that I was was the one to blame. He is a pit bull and has short hair and he gets cold easily. He must have thought..."hey, would you look at that... they brought the bathroom inside!"

no tree at all... I refuse to set one up until I don't have to travel for Christmas. I just don't see the point of going through all that if I don't even get to be at my own house on Christmas eve or Christmas day...

Well... last night she was going through the storage room and pulled out the Christmas tree I forgot she bought last January on clearance. I said I wasn't putting it up and she said she would have her parents stay with us and put up Christmas decorations then... I may have to compromise...
