I inherited a pc with windows 2000 scv. pack 4. I have no idea what the admin password is...is there an easy way to disable the security and gain back admin privileges? I could rip it out and install XP but would rather not go through the hassle.

Any ideas?

Win2K was actually decent. Not as fluffy as XP, I still have my original copy packed somewhere...I may install it again if the cracker doesn't work. I'll know tomorrow for sure when I have time to mess with it.

First off. You did do the defaults, correct?

If it's a dell, there is a 3 pin jumper on the motherboard. It only has a 2 pin going to it. Power off your computer, move the pin either over, or turn around as it should only fit one way. Power it up and it should clear your admin password.

Then, power it down and replace the pins where they were.

Yes...tried every combo I could think of. It is not a Dell, it is a homebuilt system or a private computer shop, not a major brand.

so, you move back to texas and think you can start using racial slurs?

:D

If it is in Win2k then it is in the sid history, so if the hard drive is formated NTFS you will have to buy something to hack it.

If you do not need anything on the laptop, I would just do a clean install if you have the OS.
