OT - Plasma HDTV

I just got a 36" Samsung LCD HDTV. Haven't got the HD hooked up on it yet but on regular cable the picture is pretty good if you ask me.

I've got a 2yr old 36" Sony Wega in the family room and I think its just as good or better than that picture. I think the LCD screen itself take a little bit of getting used to though. It does look a little on the "flat" as in not glossy like my Wega does. Of course I could be imagining things. To be honest the nicest HD I've seen was at my brothers house (he's got a Samsung) so other than that I really didn't do any homework. I was watching "The Equator Channel" in HD and it was ABSOLUTLEY AMAZING.

LCD's are nice but if you are trying to watch a good action movie or play a game through the TV you will notice its lacking in refresh rate. It will kinda hurt your eyes a little bit. Plasma is the refresh king. Wanna watch action movies and just have a general kick *** TV ? Go plasma.

You'd be wise to look at Toshiba's HD DLP's. I found a 61" that was quite impressive and for the price - $2999 - was deserving of a second look. Yeah, it's not a plasma but it was still a better picture than I'm used to seeing.

I have a Panasonic 50, it gets a beautiful picture. Got it from Costco for a lot cheaper than the Best Buy's and such. Thier return policy is unmatched. I think it's 1 year return no qeustions asked, cash back. Plus, they ship out of CA so maybe you could pick up and save on shipping. HTH

Stick with panasonic for plasmas. They consistently rate much higher than other brands.

I totally agree. Panasonic makes great plasma and the price is very affordable compare to other brand. I have a 42 inch pany and I got to say, it's worth every penny I pay for it.

Well my TV was on sale for 1700 bux so comaired to almost 2x the price I think its ok... I'm not a major TV affianato (sp) or anything. The whole TV probably weighs 50 lbs if that so its nice to move around. My Wega is a tank!!! I'd say 250 atleast..

I got a dell 42" plastma HDTV for 1900 and I love it, I should get the 50" anyways go with sony, panasonic or pioneer, theire qualities are the best.

I also have a Olevia 26" HDTV but I don't like the picture quality, got it for 400. Spend a little more money and get the best.
