OT- Police help needed

well I got a ticket tonight and was wondering if there is anything I can do....

In Illinois, you cant have tint on your windows.....but I bought my car from Missouri and it has tint and a loud exhaust* its a glasspack...i think thats how you spell it.....

I got a warning about 6 months ago for them both......and had the car for about 8 now.....The problem is...I have been stopped for several other reasons through out the 8 months and have only gotten the one warning, I now have a ticket.....these were the only 2 times any of the cops said anything bout the windows....

The cop asked if I had a warning and I forgot about the one I had because it was so long ago.....and needless to say he was upset about it....also the windows were half down and it was dark out.....lol how did he know! I drive on the road everyday on my way home....

The windows arent even tinted that bad.....I am on court supervision for a speeding ticket:rolleyes: lol and with this ticket, does it make both tickets go to the insurance co? If it does, I cant drive anymore because I cant afford my insurance.........also I cant afford to get the tint removed because the lowest amount I can find is 500....with no garuntee(spelling?) of scratches on the window and 700 for a garuntee(sp)

can anyone tell me what to do or give advice?

I seriously doubt that a ticket for window tint would effect your insurance. It's not like that's a moving violation.

unless the side windows are factory tinted, (impregnated in the glass) you should be able to use a single edge razor blade to remove the tint on your own. Just use window cleaner to remove the haze left after you scrape the tint off.

In IL, you can have tint of any of the back window, and 6'' on the windsheild, no tint is allowed on the front/side windows

I know that now lol....the sad thing is I have been pulled over 12 times in the last 8 months for licenceplate incodents....lol and none of the cops except one said anything......now its pitch black out side and my windows were half down..lol then I get the ticket :( there goes my new sps lol

Just take it off and go to court. Snap before and after pictures and show the judge. I am sure he will drop them.

It's easy to remove tint. 700?? Are you [profanity] kidding me?!?!?! who the [profanity] gave you that number? I would have called them a retard right to their stupid face. lol

Razor blade and goo gone is all you need. Besides you have google at your disposal.

I geuss I could just drive with the windows completely down all the time....
The Duke brothers did it for years in the general lee, why not...

make sure your driver and passenger side windows are glass before you use strong adhesive removers like oops or goo be gone. That stuff can eat plastic and you'll be looking to buff them windows next. We used white shoe polish on a ranger when my cousin got married, those are plastic and we found out the hard way. :eek2: just something more to look into and think about...

Just start at a corner and peel it slowly down using window cleaner to keep it wet,it should pull right off. Sound like your car has a bullseye on it now, their just looking for a reason to stop you. I've had tint on my 93 truck since 94 and never had anyone say anything about the tint.

That loud fartbox muffler is probably what is drawing attention to your vehicle and why you are getting stopped so often. Anyway, Capo was correct, neither the loud muffler nor the tinted windows are moving violations, so they should not effect your probation nor your insurance.
As a side note, ILCS stands for IL Compiled Statutes and all laws from Murder to Speeding are covered. If you look on your tickets, the important part is the section. Your were written under 5/12-...Moving violations are under 5/11-... I also agree that you should be able to easily scrape that off with a razor blade. If not, you could get whole new windows from a glass repair shop for a lot less that $500.00. They are trying to rip you off...again.

just pay up on the tint. I've never had a problem with mine at 15%. Remove the glasspack, that the police can pull you over for. I don't think they can stop you for the tint alone. But the muffler is noise polution I think they call it.

If you can't pull it off get 2 new/used windows. Should be around 100 bucks and then make sure you get it installed by someone who has done it before. It's a bit tricky...

tint removal

that was the first link that came upon google. Instead of the sun you can use a heat gun. If you dont have one go to home depot buy one. The most important part is dont get the gun dirty and you can take it back when your done.

I don't know what kind of car you drive, but if it's a 4 or 6 cylinder that sounds like a tuned up weed whacker, I would say thats half your problem getting pulled over all the time.

I have only installed tint and never tried to remove it, but I do know that if you want to remove the tint from the rear windshield, you will likely mess up the defroster grid. If you want to hire out the job, I would definitely shop around with tint company's. 5-7 hundred to remove tint is ludicrous! You could probably replace all the glass cheaper!

removing tint is easy, they have said how to do it in this thread. It comes off pretty easy with the above mentioned products.

So remove the tint, and the glasspack, problem solved. They are obviously targeting you because there are two items on you car that are illegal.

:) the reason I have been pulled over is my licence plates fell off XP and I was waiting for a new one to come in....lol the plate it screws into has all messed up with some gigantic screws that stripped out the plastic...wasnt me I bought it that way

and Tonblogna I know your a cop so why is it ok for motorcycles to have led strips on them and even louder straight pipes on them? In the last 4 nights on the way home I saw at least 12 bikers with both drive by cops and they said and I quote " thats a nice bike!" lol

I know its my fault and all but it makes me feel better when I can vent

I know a guy that does tint and isnt over priced. He has done every one of my cars. The law on tint changes like every year so I just never change mine. I have 5% on all rear windows and 20% on the front two and 5% strip on my windshield. I have been pulled over for noise polution too I just pay it and be on my way. One of the times I just handed it over to my lawyer.
