Totally understandable. Let me just tell the story. What happen was i was reared end by a kid yesterday. He told me he was underage, uninsured but he would pay for the damage. I did not want to file a report because i did not want to ruin his future jsut because of a simple teenager mistake but i should have knew better. I took him his plate number and all (he doesn't know that). We exchange names and phone numbers but the number he gave me is fake. So i was just wondering is there anyway i can find out where he lives or his home phone number and get my money for repair.

It is to late to go now? Also on top of that when it happened, i was picking up a friend of mine and about to head off to my insurance agency to renew my insurance. Would that post any legal problems for me also?

You only have to call the police if there's personal injury or over $750 worth of damage.You're going to need them to track this guy down.You will get your license suspended for a year for not having insurance so it may not be worth it-unless your insurance still had you covered under a grace period.

if your insurance was expired for a short period of time you will only get a fine. mine was $50. i got pulled over on the way to the insurance company to renew. The cops love my truck.

always get a police report when in an accident.. I have been rear ended twice and my wife once... Twice the guys have tried to get away, and say I'll give you cash.. I never let them...and called the police immediately. my car always got fixed... funny thing 2 of the accidents the people were on thier cell phone.

Never, ever, ever, take someone on their word when dealing with a person you do not know. Especially when you are in the position that you have everything to lose, and they have everything to gain by lying.
I had a kid bury the front of his POS quad-color primered car into the side of my truck while it was parked in front of my house around 1am many years back. A real upstanding individual.... bunch of duffle bags full of dirty clothes in the car, big feathered roach clip on the key ring (didn't know those were still in style) big ol' blodshot red eyes, couldn't stop sniffling, yada, yada, yada. He even had the nerve to try and ditch his pipe while the officer was watching. Surprisingly he produced a valid driver's license but admitted to being uninsured. He did the whole "I'll make payments, I'm good for it, I promise I'll make it right", song and dance the entire time the officer was writing the report. No big surprise when my insurance company sent me a letter stating that they were unable to track him down and the adress he had provided belonged to his parent's who pretty much wanted nothing to do with him.
Although in my case Karma came around to bite him in the arse because one night at work about a year or so later his name literally fell into my lap complements of a coworker who had stopped him for a burned out tail light. And low and behold, he now had a suspended license for no proof of insurance as a result of the accident with my veh. Same POS car, only this time it now had expired tags and when it left, it did so on the back of a flatbed enrte to the impound yard and he was left to hoof it on down the road with a cite for expired registration and driving while suspended.
Morale of the story:
In God we trust! All others we run thru NCIC.

Take Pictures! Last year, some lady rear ended me and gave me fake everything - name, phone, DL #, the works. All I had were some cellphone photos of the cars together, a partial picture of the "criminal" and her full plate number. My insurance company eventually found out who she was (she forgot to give me a fake plate number) and everything was good - except for her.

Yeah, I've had a few experiences where you try to be an understanding/compassionate person and it backfires.
