OT/Pool Pump rebuilder

Anyone know of a place local that will rebuild a Heyward 1.5 hp pool pump?

Bearings are shot and seals need to replaced.

Thanks.

I own a pool company. We stopped having them rebuilt years ago as it ends up being about 3/4 of the cost of a new motor. If you can make it to east Hampton or wait till the next meeting, which is only next week, I can give you a deal on a motor and new seal. Pm me a picture of the label on the motor and I'll let you know the cost.

Had mine start screaming at me last summer. Amazon has Hayward pumps at a reasonable price.

Had to order a new sand filter last week. Went to change out the sand in my old one, and found that the plastic is so brittle from age that I can't take it apart without breaking it. Back to Amazon.

Our local pool place was nearly double the price.

Yeah, you need to be pretty careful changing out the sand, those elements at the bottom are delicate.

Yes, they are. Remove old sand slowly, with a wet dry vac, and fill the tank with water before you start dumping hundreds of pounds of sand on them.

I didn't even get that far, cracked the plastic clamp that holds the valve on the top. Just not worth it. When it's time to replace it, replace it. It'll save you enough headaches to pay for itself.
