Anyone know a good place to get cheap or free boxes? I'm moving and need tons of them.

GO behind a grocery store around 7 am during the week... Look for a Potato chip vender... herrs, utz, fritolay..... they carry all their bags of chips in large cardboard boxes... when they are done with them at the store they are supposed to collapse them and bring them back to be reused...... a large majority of them do not get paid for bringing them back, only the senior guys do because thats the way it was when they got hired... im sure they would rather unload them to you then drive around all day with them in their truck...
thats where ill be getting mine when we move in 2 months.

I will check out the grocery stores and right now I live right by Liquor World so I'll check there too. Yeah Safir, I got a house in West Chester. It's only 8 blocks from my tattoo shop. After 11 years of commuting 45 minutes each way, I can finally walk to work. I'll take the $400 a month I'll be saving in gas and put it into more aquariums!

sounds good. You get to sleep a bit later, home earlier and a short walk or bike ride will make you feel good. If you actually save $400 a month on gas from the old commute, you can not only afford a superb reef tank but will be saving a wild reef by cutting your CO2 emmisions by 17 TONS per year.

LOL! Thanks kaptken. The way I figured it out is, I'm putting $30 in gas in my truck every 2 - 3 days so I just averaged it out. It's funny but I never really thought about it until I got the chance to move and I was weighing the benefits. I'm so used to the commute by now that being at the gas pump was just second nature.

Yeah, its why we Americans use much more energy than any other country. People who work on the west side of town , live on the east side, and vice-a-versa. a gallon of gasoline(about 6.1 pounds) makes 19.4 pounds of CO2 and some other stuff. It's Magic. so we can figure our driving emmisions from that.
now that you got me on a roll, my other favorite subject is how much power we use for our tanks. I just looked up a De. CO2 emmisions rate per KWHR. Its 1.958 pounds of CO2 per killowatt hour. so a 175 watt halide, burning 12 hours a day uses 2100 watthours, or 2.1 kwhrs per day, producing 4.11 pounds of CO2 from the electricity generation per day. or 1500 pounds per year..

Congrats on the move. A suggestion about boxes:
A lot of shipping places give out boxes for free ie USPS for you to bring back and use for shipping, so you could just ask for the boxes and use them for moving instead.
Also that acan frag I got from you is doing awesome. I will try to post a pic within the next few days.

Nano, you might check with furniture stores too, they get big boxes if you need them.
Bad news Safir, a gallon of Diesel is denser and heavier than a gallon of gasoline. but that means it has more carbon, and energy, which is why by volume you should get more MPG per gallon. but it will also make more CO2. a gallon of diesel makes about 22.384 pounds of CO2 when burned compared to a gallon of gas making 19.564 lbs CO2. you can play with this calculator to figure lots of energy use CO2 outputs. It seems to have the best data.

of course that doesnt take into account that the dies engine is likey twice as heavy as the gas engine to stand up to the pressures needed to make the diesel burn worth a damn.
to bring this discussion back around to on topic - my big, heavy, inefficient, polluting diesel truck (and it's owner) is avaliable to hep with the move if you need it nano
