I know the radio commonly plays different versions of songs than the albums of the artist, but Why is the radio audio quality so craptastic ?!

I know it is not all my tuner and speakers, it has to degrade in the air or something because I am listening to Tool at home and it flippin rocks VS. in my car or on a FM radio which sounds like crap and or sound almost nothing like a cd or even a recording.

Are my ears that sensitive or can everyone else tell the difference ?

Wait, what station are you listening to that plays Tool? I dont listen to the radio much, but if I can get free Tool...

my dad has xm in his truck. the quality is a lot better than fm. it is much more crisp. I still do not think it is cd quality but pretty close

his xm is built into the radio. I am not sure about the aftermarket xm receivers that are fm modulated. you may loss a little quality since it is still going through the radio

i have sirius. the not installed kind.
it's just regular radio quality.
i totally recommend it.
why waste time every couple songs listening to a couple minutes of commercials? screw that!

Saw this thread this morning. Made me dig up my old tool cd at work today among others.

Don't have HD radio. But I can definitely tell the difference between CDs and the radio. My guess is tehnology would allow them to broadcast CD quality but do their business rules?

Ever watch directv? Have you noticed that HBO and other premium channels are broadcast with better quality than the regular cable channels?

105.7 and 93.3 both play vicarious a lot.

105.7 plays the pot every now and then.

songs sound better to me on cd, that is why i got that tape thing that plugs into your cd player. that way you can listin to your cd's while drivin. you can also listen to whatever you want that way.. like Bidibodi Bidibu (from super troopers)
