OT: Santa Fe

STARS Vice President
I know this thread is off topic (OT) but I wanted to share with the club where I am at and what it is like here.

For the summer I am working at New Mexico's one and only, to date, 5 diamond resort. Living in Santa Fe. The Encantado an Auberge resort is located about 8 miles north of Santa Fe in Tesuque. This place is incredible, I will post some pics of the resort soon. I grew up in Santa Fe, left in 1998, so I feel like I am re-discovering the area. Today I was trying to find an old favorite hiking trail, to my astonishment the area has been developed into a sophisticated network of hiking trails with checkpoints and maps included. Attached is a some photographs I took while on a hike. Santa Fe is absolutely beautiful and I really miss growing up here.

I love my fish tanks but its hard to focus on fish with scenery like this!!!

Jay "“ Nice!! :) I just drove by there from Longmont, CO! I have to admit I expected more but I'm sure the prospective from I-25 does not do it justice. Boy was I surprised how flat and desolate it was between SF and Raton! That bit of the trip was loooong!!! Is this resort more for the summer time? Always trying to find something in December as that is my anniversary month and the better half does not like to fly!

Jay

santa fe is nice for a day or so, then the hippies get to me. we got married in red river, it isn't too far from santa fe. it is a nice place to get away for a day or two

Jay-

While Santa Fe can be viewed differently from different perspectives, this place is really great. Especially if you have never been before. I agree, your drive from Raton is unflattering and viewing Santa Fe from I-25 as you drive by does nothing for the city's architecture, culture, and history. This is a great place for a weekend or even one week getaway.

As far as the resort, this place is great. Tucked away in the foothills of the Sangre De Cristos outside of town and completely secluded, however not out of reach of town. Especially when there is complimentary escorts into town at your request in one of the mercedes from our fleet. Or if you like you can "borrow" one of the CLK convertible mercedes for the day/ evening at no charge to you (there are 2 on a first come first serve basis). However, in december you may want to keep the top up! No, this is not a summer specific resort, in december there will most likely be snow on the ground which adds to the charm of the resort. There is an on premise spa with quite the variety of treatments available to both the misses and you. The Casitas are great and if you want to splurge go for a suite. Since I have been here I have noticed quite a few anniversaries so I think this would be a great idea for you, especially since there is no flying. Here is the website: www.encantadoresort.com

Look into the packages. I know we have a purchase two nights and get a third free. There are a few other packages as well that include spa treatments.

Not my photo but a great representation of the resort....

Just wanted to update. Things are going well here, however, I am putting in some seriously long hours. In the hospitality business there is no such thing as a 40 or even 50 hour work week and weekends and holidays do not follow traditional schedules (while tough sometimes I have embraced this long ago!). I am really enjoying where I am at though.

Attached are some photos of tonight's sunset, each day seems to more dramatic than the next. Its easy to see why so many artists/ photographers/ film makers are drawn to this setting. Last night was one of the most incredible lighting storms I have ever seen.

Just wanted to share and will use this thread as a photo journal/ blog throughout my stay.
