OT: Selling my car

As some of you know, I'm moving out of Country so my 2002 Nissan X-Terra will have to go. Some people told me to go to Carmax to sell my car, but I dunno about that. I know that if I sell it directly to someone I would get more $$$, but I don't think I have enough time. If any of you have any experience with Carmax and the likes, please let me know what your thoughts and what place should I go. Thanks much!! :fun4:
 
Since you are in a hurry. I'd go there and see what they offer you. The offer is good for x amount of days and miles. It wouldnt hurt. You aren't obligated to sell it to them.

Other than that you can list on craigslist and the autotrader.
 
I went to Carmax to see if my old LandRover was worth selling to them or trading in. To my surprise, the dealer (not LR) gave me about 20% more for the trade than Carmax was willing to give.

Given your situation, can't hurt to get an estimate, just check the NADA/Edmonds value first.

I think I will go the Carmax route, seems like an easier way.

Salty - I just checked my car value at Edmonds.com, are their prices accurate?

Sold my Yukon XL Denali last week to Carmax. They gave me $13,000 and I owed $10,500. It only takes 30 minutes. Just remember, if you list it on craiglist it will take time to sell to get what you want. Good luck.
 
Any move from one place to another can be a pain. Let alone to another country. I hope everything goes smooth for you.
 
I don't know why, but this thread started me off just looking at carmax. Next thing I know a couple hours have gone by and I'm reading up on how to swap a LS1 into a 240sx... Jesus christ ADD is a horrible thing.

Edmonds seemed to be pretty accurate for the trade-in value (dealer) when I used it in 2005, but the other values are just a starting point. What you would get from an individual depends on the circumstances of the sale.
 
mark, did you bore it out to a 2.6 or w/e they do? And no I don't know where to get one.. I don't even have a 240 but I was thinking about doing the KA-T as well. But the LS1... So sexy.

Edit: But I wanna do the S14 240, not a huge fan of the older 240's.
 
well i did the bore 20 over . but i melted to piston twice for not putting to computer cuz it took for ever to come back to me but i was running 300 stock :) . ls1 is sexy just to much work for me i guess . ill slap that all day when im done . i had a 95 and i loved it but its not always safe to drift in the street lol lost control . oppss
 
haaaaaaa sorry sad tuck engine all the way . i have blown sr's out of the water and they have more mods aaaaannndd mines only boosting 8 pounds so yeaaa .poor sr's are trash lol . just gotta build it for turbo specs u know like a sr20 already comes . wait not even :) lol but ls will give u good power
