I have an older projection LCD tv that recently started having a blueish haze in the bottom 2" of the picture. I bought the TV in June 2005, warranty expired in 2006. So I called Sony to see how much the part would be to fix the TV. Sony said this was a known problem with this model and the part is much more than the TV is worth. If I would like to get it fixed they could recommend a repair shop or they would sell me a new TV at a significantly reduced price in order to make things right.

52" LED - $975 + tax delivered
55" LCD - $775
46" LED - $415
46" LCD - $280

If any of you have a Sony tv, it is common on all the lcd projection types, and have this issue call them soon this deal ends sometime in June. I just have to send then the sticker off the back of the TV and a picture of the problem and my new LED tv is on its way. Plus I get to keep the old TV which isnt too terrible to watch.

If only Hydor had Sony's customer service.......:)

I probably have the same Sony HD you have. Mine is a sxrd 50 rear projection LCD. I bought it around the same time you did. Six months after I bought it this yellow haze started creeping down the edges. It would get worse as the tv got warm. I had a extented warranty through best buy, and the guy came out and fixed it. It was the light engine was bad. A whopping 1000.00 part. So far no other issues.

LG sent my brother in-law a free brand spanking new 55" lcd flat panel because of a defect in an lcd projection TV that he bought way back in like 2003. About a month ago he called them and a week or so later his nice shiny new TV showed up on his doorstep. The defect in the lcd projection tv sparked a class action lawsuit and Zenith, now part of LG, had to replace the defective models.

I just started noticing this about 3 months ago on my SXRD 50in (2003 model?). I researched things online and found out about the recall but I haven't started the claim process...Does anyone have a contact number to make a claim and get the process started? Any advise when talking to the customer service? It would be AWESOME to get a whole new TV out of the deal!!!

Thanks!

SXRD program is even cheaper for the replacements from what I found, if it is the "optical block"that is bad . As long as you can understand the cs rep through their accent there is nothing to it .I think I called this number.

1-239-768-7547

Thanks for the number...I really need to get that started soon! I think I remember seeing a 30JUN10 deadline...
