I have a number of LARGE yellow striped garden spiders in my yard. Beautiful webbs. I've located an egg "cacoon" as well. What I've read suggests that the babies hatch around the end of summer to early fall. They remain in the egg pouch until spring. Anyone that may be interested it is welcome to it.

Hi steve. These are beautiful and harmless spiders. If I had some Blackeyed Susans, I'm put them there. But I don't. I still need to get over to your place. The summer is flying by!

Anytime Mike.
Thanks Kat. Just been layin' low, but I've been around.
Holler if you need anything. I'm still sitting on a fair amount of extras, and could definately use the cash.

Not sure if anyone took you up on the offer or not Steve, but I thought I'd just add that these Argiope spiders are knowtorious for being difficult to raise in captivity as the spiders are very dependant on a natural overwintering stage. Even my spider biology professor in college who has 1000s of spiders living in her lab right now doesn't even try to raise these from eggs.

Very cool that you have so many in your yard though, all of the ones you are describing are the females, the males are about a tenth of the size or less and look very different compared to the female.

Cheers,
Tad
