OT: suggestions for a sub-woofer

I know there are some guys on here who know there stuff when it comes to A/V stuff. My sub-woofer has stopped working and I need a new one. Any recommendations? My current equipment is left/right/center B&W 805 Nautilus speakers and the Denon 4803 receiver. We like watching movies and listening to music so it's gotta be a good all-around sub-woofer. Thanks.

Klipsch subs are awesome. http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/subwoofer/
I have the sub-10 model shown on that page. I had it on the far side of my house and my neighbor to the opposite side came over one day and asked if I could turn down my stereo a couple db's. He then asked what I had (I was watching Snakes on a Plane). He thought I must have had either a 15 or a pair of 12's as I was vibrating his kitchen some 70 feet and two exterior walls away. This was at -36 on my Yamaha 6.1 ch receiver. The sub-12 is even deeper. I can tell you that I feel the explosions thru my couch and floor. As you can see on that link they have even better ones too.

Depends on how much you want to spend. I'm currently using this one which is one of their older subs. http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-box-plus2.cfm
Review of the sub:

Hsu subs are also nice. http://www.hsuresearch.com/subwoofers.html

If I were in a market for a sub, I would go the DIY route and get 1 15" from http://www.audiopulse.com/products/subwoofer-drivers/
FYI TC sounds (the maker of the sub linked above) is a OEM manufacture of subs.

How large is your room? Raised foundation or concrete slab? hardwood floors or carpet? and what sub were you running before?

I'll second the SVS. I've got the PB-10 and its an amazing sub. I was able to get by with a 10" sub because i have a raised foundation, in a medium sized room with hardwood floors AND i was able to locate it in a corner. Goes nicely with my B&W speakers as well. The PB-10 is very well built, and massive for only a 10" sub. I actually use it as a corner end table in my living room. SVS subs are very well priced and rated pretty highly in forums like AVS. I've had mine for about 5 years now and i use it every day (sometimes driving it real hard) and it still performs just like it did on day 1.

When I was working at Christopher Hansen we sold Wilson Audio, Bag End, Mirage, Martin Logan, Thiel and other company that makes subwoofer, the one that consistently sounded the best was REL. You can find them on Ebay for pretty reasonable $. Good luck.

the absolute best sound ive ever heard came from nile speakers. i couldnt recite specs off the top of my head but i know they are water cooled and made to really produce quality sound

I would just use one like this

Velodyne are great if you've got the $$$ to buy them. A very reasonably priced and really fantastic sound and quality as mentioned before on here are the HSU research subs. They've got some insane subs, and from a lot of research a long time ago on avsforum, they were considered very highly, especially for their prices.

Must be nice to have the $$$ to spend on some speakers. I'm just using 1980s McIntosh floorstandings, but man these things sound fantastic.

Check out Hsu Research - its a local company (in santa ana) that specializes in subs. Reasonably priced and you can demo anything there.

lol. I would support HSU even if I wasn't local. The local guys down here are JL audio (out of south FL) who make $$$ subs, but mostly if not all car subwoofers if I understand correctly. I still like HSU for their price to performance
