OT: Time Warner Cable Phone

Does anyone have or have experience with Time Warner's cable phone service? Our promotional DSL price has run out and it would be much cheaper to bundle telephone and internet through Time Warner. If anyone has any opinions, I would love to hear them before making a final decision. Thanks!!!

I have it, it works good. I had Vonage before that and the service was spotty and not so great.

Time warner isnow fortunate enough to be takign even more of my money.

Just remember, if the cable is out, you dont have a telephone.

Their service has been great so far. We have just converted from dial-up so we are understandably enamored with having a cable modem again. Phone service has been very good and very reasonably priced.

We had three days with no phone. They had to come out and swap parts out due to a storm. No internet either but we did not lose cable. It works fine. Not something I would rate an a+. More like a B.

I hate the cable company. But I gues it is an evil I have to live with. It is the check I hate writing out every month.

Here we go again LOL,
Cable modems rock, voip is iffy. It's my understanding that time warner unlike other cable providers do not provide battery back up with there product so if power is out so is your phone
I try to pick the best combo for me Cable modem, DSS and cell phones

Remember, No power, now 911. No cable, no 911. If you own a cell phone, it's a great backup. We're canceling the landline and going all cell in a month or so. Thanks to number portability, we can take our # with us.

I always stump the guy from cable when he calls.... "So, the power goes out in a storm or a fire, can I call for help...."

and my all time favorite....."My cable sometimes flickers, and when it does that I loose internet connection... it comes right back in a minute or so.... sometimes 3-5. What will happen to my phone call?"

BTW - my brothe has it. I never really talk to him as much as I should, but he likes it.

Something about the phone company, they've be doing what the do for 100 years and they mostly get it right. But their still billing bastards.

I tried it, went back to SBC/ATT.

I got sick of trying to make every 10th or so call and getting a recording saying, "all circuits are busy, please try again later"...

Plus, power outage - no phone (which oddly enough is probably when you will need the phone the most...)

SBC/ATT will give you a promotion if you call and tell them that you want to switch from Cable. When I called, I got $8 a month off the phone bill and a $25 Visa card after 30 days and a $50 Visa card after 90 days of service with them.

All in all, stick with the people that do what they do the best - the telephone company for your telephone, the cable company for your cable....(or dish if you like to save money)

:D

huh, interesting topic. I've never had cable at any time growing up, nor do we have it now. We have a landline phone and dsl and we've never had a bit of trouble. When our router box or whatever it is was acting up and we didn't have internet due to that, they were literally out here within an hour whenever we called, which was several times during a two month period until they got it figured out... so this is my plug for Bayland telephone in Abrams! :) We've got cells too, well finally we have decent cells, but we still wish we could have our old analog phones back! We could actually use those outside of town, ha!

I have SBC/Yahoo DSL.

They run a promotional rate for 6 months (For Example 16.99/month), after which time your cost jumps to something like $30/month.

All you have to do is call them 5 weeks before the end of the promotion (before the $30 bill goes out)and tell them you want to "renew" at whatever new promotional rate they have. They will always renew at the promotional rates as you can always go to "Earthlink" or some other DSL vendor for THEIR promorional rate.

SBC/ATT has been running their DSL for $12.99 a month forever, and if you want to higher speed that matches the speed of the $39.95 a month cable, that is only $17.99 a month.

I switched over from the high speed cable to the high speed DSL for $17.99 a month and what a difference - the DSL is much faster!

I also have never had a connection problem with the DSL, like I had with the cable internet a few times.

$22.00 cheaper a month and faster - works for me!!

:D
