OT video game help

I am seeking some advice for a used video game system for my daughter for Christmas. She is only in first grade and she really wants one.
I have not played a video game since Tron back in 1984 and I know nothing about these thingies.
I was wondering if one had more children's games vs the other and do any of these used units seem to have more problems than others. Would Ebay be the best place to purchase a used unit, or are there places local that sell used systems? Are the children oriented games still available on some of the older models?
TIA

Nintendo - Gamecube.
They don't have a ton of games but the ones they do are very child oriented. The only thing is the contoller is advanced for some younder people.

I would go with a Gameboy SP or DS.
TONS of games of every variety and they are super easy to use.

The Gamecube would be a good one if your looking to get her a home system. If you want something portable go Gameboy Advance or DS.

Gamestop, EB Games, and Slackers all sell used systems and games. A Gamecube system should run around $70 used.

I have a 6 year old daughter (she is the middle of 3 kids) and we got them a Gamecube last Christmas. I think the game selection for her is good. (She kicks my butt at Mario Baseball.) We wanted the Cube instead of one of the Gameboys cause we could play with/against them. I think there are going to be used GameCube packages at EB games on Friday this week that come with controllers, and a used game for $79. They really love the Mario Party games, Mario baseball, Mario cart double dash, Mario sunshine, and Louigi's Mansion. We rent games and let them try them out befor buying them. Hope this helps. --H

so it seems the gamecube is the better choice-is there a place that sells used games and machines local, or should I do ebay?

game cube definitely got one for son 8yrs old and daughter almost 5 yrs. old, but need to get ps3 for son so i can play it to.

Phil,

Find a local Gamestop and see what they have available. They are the storefront for Electronics Boutique. They sell mostly used systems and games.

How about this idea. Get the new nintendo wii. That way you can use it for yourself too. It is supposed to play all the games put out from nintendo all the way back to the first NES. If you get any of the others you will be limited to the particular system. I would check out craigslist in St. Louis for good deals on everything (snes, gamecube, gameboy, playstation) but the Wii because of the price-gauging. Plus, It's local.

BTW, when can we mmet up about the zoa's?
