OT. What are the chances - again

What are the chances. Twice in two weeks. As I told you all last week a overworked forklift operator at work hit the spinkler head back in one of the warehoses, and flooded tha warehouse. To try and make it up, they are talking about working Sat night too. These puts us at a 7day week, 12 and 16 hours and day. Well this morning just before I got off at 1100. Another Forklift driver hit a very old waterline, and snapped it off. Flood the whole North half of the factory. Those lines were so old and hadn't been used for so long, No one thought they were still hooked up. Well surprise they were.
This is so unbelievable. We ( the production workers) keep telling them in the office, "This is way out of control" The Corperate office shut down 6 plants in the Midwest region at the end of Summer. and now they are try to move 7 of the machines into our already crowded plant. and want to increase production 4 plus fold. With no new people for the most part, We got 4 new people over the summer, But 9 retired over the last year. So we are still short handed. They are bringing Huge trucks carrying Huge machinery, run a factory, as if nothing is wrong. There is no where to move, It is so cramped in there, if you tried to fart, it would bounce back and hit you in the head And now they are talking three more machines before the end of the year. This is a disaster waiting to happen. Some one is going to get hurt one of these days. I just hope it isn't me. Well I just needed to vent. Don't have time to go anywhere and complain. Off at 1100, but in at 7 to night. off tomorrow at 11 in the morning.

Just a quick glimes into the impending disaster, Our Plant hasn't had and kind of accident for 3 years. Not even a good papercut. And in the last 3 months, When had one maintainece man almost loose two fingers trying to put in one of these new machines, Another maintainence guy had one of the huge electrical cabinets, the one that are 4 foot by 6 foot and about 2 foot deep fall on top of him, Needed a fort truck to lift it off. One guy broke his ankle last week, Comeing down off the cross walk of a conveyor the floor was packed with crap so there so no where to step down, so he thought he could step over, and slipped. And two water lines broke. and flooded the plant.
This morning I had to literally stack orders of boxes with my shins press up against the conveyor, and my back up against loads of cardboard. the only way to move anywhere was to babystep side ways and hope I didn't loose my balance. Otherwise I know I would have definatly broke both of my legs at the shin. And after 16hours that is very hard to do.

Gee, I wonder if OSHA would be interested in hearing about any of that?

Unfortunately, if someone were to notify OSHA they would probably just close the place and move it to somewhere where no one would complain.

Sorry to hear about all the problems at work. I gather it is not a Union shop... not that it would necessarily make any difference.

Well Good morning, It is that time again. Yes, unfortunatly we are a union shop. I just think they are scared to say anything. For fear they would close us down also.
It didn't alway use to be like this. But last March our pland super and and plant manager retired. The complany brought in some idiots. One guy never worked in a box company before. Infact he was a T.I. in the Air Force. and they other is just stupid. They never want to tell the big boy in Chicigo anything except yes. None of them reallize, that yes you can put all your eggs in one basket, just not all at once. If you take all your eggs and just throw them in, you will end up with alot of cracked eggs. But if you carefully put one in at a time, and don;t rush you can get them all in, all in one piece.
