OT: What is virtual memory?

I Keep getting this MSG telling me that my virtual memory is low on my laptop. What does this mean?

gotta wonder why it's coming up, better if you can put it to another drive, but hopefully increasing it will take care of it

I don't know why it comes up. I only have a C drive and my CD/DVD drive. I download a lot of movies online, but delete them as I watch them. Could this be the prob?

If you want we could meet up and take a look at your computer. I work for an I.T. company and do this type of stuff ALLLLLLLLLLL day.

I could run some disk defrags and also scan for malware / spyware.

Do you know how much memory your computer has?

I live in Youngstown and my schedule is pretty tight until the end of March. I'll try upping the size of the virtual memory paging file and wait a few days. I'm not sure how much memory it has. It's a Dell Inspiron 1150. I run Norton 360. Defrag, scan for viruses, and run disc clean up once a month. I just got this program called malwarebytes anti-malware. I just scanned and it's saying that I have 20 infected filed, but I don't want to delete them as they look important. Is there anyway I can take a screen shot so you van see the files I'm talking about?

I have a website you can go to that will let me connect to your to your pc remotely and run the scans you will be able to see me control your computer, as long as your computer is on the internet. Downloading the malwarebytes software is great!!! That's one of the programs I would of used. Personally I know that all Norton Anti virus is one of the worst programs for anti virus. I have seen computers run scans with norton and find nothing than i run it wil trend micro or malware bytes and it will find 100+ infected items.

If you want to take a screen shot and email it to me or just type out what files its trying to delete. I am 10000 percent sure that they are going to be bad files but you can let me know what they are.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the help with a special thanks to Tony (djtonton) who took like 2 hrs of his time last night to run scans, delete negative items, upped the size of the virtual memory paging file, and give me some good advice. This is the reason I post things like this here rather than a forum dedicated to computers. The people here are so knowledgeable, but even is the fact that you guys are all so friendly and are willing to help others. I love RC.
