OT What's for Christmas dinner

My family gets together Christmas Eve for dinner and gifts. Our tradition is whole beef strip loin on the grill (sliced thin) and lasagna. I don't know how it started but we've been doing it for 25+ years. Plus about a half dozen bottles of wine. We feed about 25

What's on your dinner table????

Although we don't go quite as far as the 7 fishes on Christmas eve, its a pretty traditional Italian fare, fried baccala, pasta, etc.

Christmas day is pretty much a repeat of Thanksgiving with turkey, etc.

Prime rib here /w all the fixings ,,we have had it for the last 20 + years, My mom will be here in the AM to get the beef started and hang out for the day , enjoy some family time & football !! we will feed around 12-15 for dinner Christmas day ,,, always a enjoyable day with the folks, kids, grandchildren.

My fish will eat good on Christmas. I just finished preparing Scuingelli, calamari, mussels, shrimp, clams and octopus.
Of course there will be some fish also but I don't know what my wife bought yet. But Christmas is always fish, so is every other day but not to the extent of Christmas.
We being Sicilian do the seven fish. We don't really count so sometimes it is six and sometimes 8. Of course my family all being in the fish business probably started my obsession with seafood as we never ate meat. My wife's Dad was a butcher so they never ate fish.
I have mostly small gobies so did you ever try to cut scungilli to the size of new born brine shrimp?

Serpentman, that Bacalla sounds good. I hope we have some of that also

I am in Massillon. I don't know how this got started but I think as a kid my favorite dish was lasagna. My B-Day is after Christmas, so i got to pick my B-Day dinner. Eventually we combined the two and a tradition was born.

Keep the Christmas meals coming.... I forget how big of an ethinic melting pot NE Ohio is. I love to hear the idea from different families. I'd like to try the fish, but my family would revolt if their was not a beef loin.

Merry Christmas

Boy knew that had to be Sicilian, I always loved the octopus except for its suckers sticking to the plate :)

I just got back from prime rib dinner at the inlaws except they weren't there. When the MIL was sharping the knife well lets just say 8 stiches later. Anywho, Merry christmas all. Now to get back to the Christmas story marathon. ho hohohohoho

Off to the brothers this year for x-ma dinner. First time in 35 years not going or staying at the parents for dinner. He's having a Mexican food and drink themed dinner. Nice change from the normal Turkey/Ham dinner we always have

Merry Christmas everyone
Erik

The wife and I will start with champange, baguette and some stinky French cheese (Livradois). We're going to make pasta (yes the dough, from scratch) and make ravioli filled with goat cheese and mushrooms. We'll have this with sauteed spinach and sauce of pureed roasted red peppers. There's also bit of beef tenderoin in the fridge. I'll probably fire that up for myself. I think I promised to make a coconut cake, too. :)
