OT: XBOX 360's 3 Red Flashes of Death

I just got mine back after almost a month. What I don't like is that instead of repairing it, they sent me a replacement unit. I just don't want to have the same problem happen with this one, and then have to send it back again.

Unarce,

We have 2 360's because of it. They seemed to be over heating and frying either the GPU or CPU. What I did since mine died when 360's first came out is get a Nyko Intercooler:

No problems ever since. I plan on trading my second 360 for a Wii this weekend. :)

Warning though, if you do decide to get one and run into future problems DO NOT mention that you use any non-microsoft components on your 360 or they can void your warranty. HTH!

IMO the WII is not worth the 360.
My friend got a wii for christmas of 2006 and hasn't even touched the thing for three months.

I think that it was kinda like a "fad" game system and the fun wore off too quickly.

Since you have two 360s though, I guess it may be worth it to you.

I know but the kids are asking for one since they played at their cousins. And since I can't find one anywhere and don't want to drive all over the place and pay $350, I found someone to trade the system and one game for one of my 360's.

Don't get me wrong, I love the 360, I can't get enough of Rainbow Six! :D

i bought the extended warrantee....and bought the extended warrantee again for the replacement...At this rate i'll be getting a new 360 every year for $50 lol.

Yeah, I thought about a mod for the 360 and Wii but don't know how it will react when it goes online since I play a lot online. Is there a for sure way to bypass the mod? I think it will ban your unit from online services if it senses a modded BIOS. Thats what I remember when I used to mod Xbox's and PS1 & 2.

how long have your guys's lasted before it got the red ring. I got mine during xmas .. and then took it apart to paint the case.. it sat aparrt for bout 6 monts and i finally just started playin with it again for about a month

Mine started with the video that started pixelizing while playing. Then it got worse then started freezing up, then the ring. It was withing a couple months. With the fan I mention above I don't get those problems...

i've heard about some problems with the intercooler though.. about it having problems with how the power cord connects into it?

I haven't had any problems on the two units I have. But I did see some pics on the web where someones must of been defective where the contacts where.

speaking of xbox's i'm kinda old school and only have an xbox.
So If anyone wants to help me out that would be awesome.
I have an xbox that I want to sell.
$55 and it's yours.

I must admit though. you can't go online with it.
sorry for putting a detour in your thread nuuze.

I just didn't want to put up a new thread about xbox's.
Oh and the xbox is slightly modified.
Like once you load a game you could eject the game and continue playing without the cd even in.
I'll explain better if needed
Thanks

Mine lasted 11 months before the red flashes. I never added a cooling system to it, and probably won't for the replacement.

According to Microsoft, the Extended Service Contract that I had with my old one will be cancelled, and then placed on the replacement. I'll have to call them to see if they'll send me a hard copy.

hey karl, i bought a 360 in early february and it crapped out just last month (right after they announced the 3 year warranty). i'm looking at a 3 to 6 week turn around. yikes!

i usually played around 5-10 hours a week (quite a bit, now that i look back at it!) with no problems. then, right before i moved to Concord, i decided to take a break from packing to play some gears of war and the thing just froze when i started an online match.

i restarted the system and things seemed fine...i played for about an hour and then turned off the 360. turned it on the next day and "voila!"-- 3 red lights.
