I'm now looking for a macro lens. Any suggestions? Funny thing is I'm still learning how to use my camera

Hey Harry, when I bought my Canon, I purchased the the 100mm f/2.8 EF. This is the one without stabilization. So, best used for tight macros and great portraits when you don't want to be right on top of your subject. You get the best results from this lens using a tripod. There is another lens, the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 "L" series lens that has Stabilization. I actually wish I had purchased that one at the time.. At some point I may trade mine in and upgrade to the "L" series. Either way, I suggest to stick with Canon dedicated lenses to get the most out of your camera.

The guys who gave the talk at the last LIRA talked about some sites where you can rent different lenses from. Might be something to look into so you can figure out what ones work the best for you before you buy.

Harry I was looking into all that a while ago..went a smarter and easier route..underwater camera. You can't beat it. You can go right up to the coral and snap it with out worrying about light reflection,flash interference etc.
