How did it happen? Your fault for brushing up against him? Or a deliberate attack by him? Details, please, details! :hammer:

I've never heard of a lion to sting other than in defense.

i didnt know tht long spine urchins are poisonous...

Please, for your own health, don't buy a blue ring octopus...speaking of things w' a nasty sting/bite.

Seriously, sorry you got hit....tank cleaning can be a two person job. One to do the cleaning and another "spotter" to keep an eye on anything that may get you. This becomes more helpful if you have a moray, ****y triggers, in addition to your lion. Pretty fish though....

I think I got stung by an aptasia in my tank once. The little buggers are over the place and I must have stuck my finger right into one moving a rock by hand. It felt like a papercut/ burn. I've been very careful to avoid my lion though. I have a low tolerance to venum. Bee stings used to have the ability to kill me in about 15-30 minutes.

that sucks..... you should get an epi pen (epinephrin) so if you get stung you can give yourself the shot without going to the ER. A guy who works for my dad is like that.... gets stung by a bee and immediately starts to swell... almost before your eyes! That pen has saved his butt a lot of times.

I own one of those somewhere. I think I may have left it behind when I moved out of my parents place. I'll have to ask them about it sometime. When I was younger I had a series of needles containing bee venom to boost my immunity. I've had literally hundreds of needles in my arms. Its really quite traumatizing. Maybe I'll have to do it all again for lionfish!

My Volitan Lionfish seems very trained in recognizing me as an owner. It hovers by the top of the tank to let me know that she is hungry and will wait until I place the food on the top of the water and remove my hand to swipe at it. Also when I'm cleaning she seems happy enough to go around my hand and let me clean. Strange relationship we have. I just hope one day I don't **** her off.
