Our 20L progression thread

Blue tailed damsels are not really that aggressive as far as damsels go. He will probably be just fine, I keep 4 in my 40 gallon and a friend of mine kept a single in a 20 gallon and he never bothered anything.

I really like damsels myself. I have been thinking of setting up a damsel tank with nothing but domino and three stripe damsels!

That is good to hear but I don't really want to chance it. I have heard they can become territorial and him being the first fish I am worried. The last thing I want is to drop a clown in there and have the damsel try to beat him up.

Look what we got! UPDATES!

what is it?
:D Wouldn't you like to know...

Okay so after 4 days of very smooth water parameters we decided to get our cleaning crew. 2 Astrea snails, 2 Nassassaric Snails, 2 Scarlet Hermits, and a cleaner shrimp.

One side note, the cleaner shrimp was 28.00. I did NOT walk in there expecting to spend that much on him, do you think we got ripped off? He better live... :)

Glad to see the cleanup crew! A little concerned on the shrimp though, do watch your nitrites and nitrates, they are so not tolerable of high numbers of each..

Wait till Jaimee sees the nassarious around feeding time.. Like little keystone cops if you ask me.. (hopefully I'm not dating myself with the keystone cops reference and you figure it out)

oh, btw, $28 for a cleaner is pretty avg for a LFS thats not in California.. They do vary a little in price according to time of year, but thats typical LFS pricing if you ask me (never compare LFS to online, online is MUCH cheaper, but they equal out when you factor in shipping)

$28 is not horrible for a large one. I can get them for abou $20 here, but they arent always in stock.

Also I agree with Nagel about the shrimp, watch it close, and don't be surprised if it dies. Shrimp can be very sensitive

ok this is Jaime... Chris had to go to work, so i'm here doing the acclimation thing. Got everything in OK. I hope... Took some pics... hope this works...

You forgot to add .jpg to the end of the file name. Here are the fixed pics.

Edit: You need to resize the pics to around 800x600 as they are to large

Anything we are missing in the cleanup crew? I want to make sure it is all covered... should we get more of something?

Nice little setup youve got going. Ill tag along. Have anymore pics of the 350? What all have you done to it? Sorry if its been asked already.

I have tons of pics of the 350. Let me go ahead and PM you the pics tomorrow. I am gonna try to keep them out of the thread so we can have some tank only talk in here :)

Something else I wanted to add. I know you guys are saying to be careful of nitrates and such and I just wanted to let you all know that we are being very careful. We have been checking the water parameters every day and everything is steady and nothing alarming. Nitrates are at .2 and have been that way since the start of the tank. Once some denitrate is added (whenever I stop being lazy and go buy some) to the media tray it should drop to 0 for sure.

Everything looks great and at the same time a little scary!! WHY? Well I started out in salt water ECXACTLY the same way!! And I MEAN EXCACTLY!! 20l tank small fuge small skimmer so on. The live rock even looks the same! Is it Haitian? And the rockwork (aquascaping) was almost identical!! WOW Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢m a little freaked out! I also did all of this with my wife when I started out. Anyway to make a long story short, itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s about 5 years later now and I have gone through about 5 upgrades!! So, as I know you will most probable follow in my footsteps with the upgrades! Let me give you one piece of advice. WHEN you upgrade your tank in the near future MAKE IT A BIG ONE!! GO ALL THE WAY or you wonââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t be satisfied. This addiction is unlike any other!! Have fun! IT LOOKS GREAT!

Haitan live rock... yep :) Thanks for the words of encouragement about future upgrades. Pretty funny how you said you started out the same way, I bet you were scared I know I would have been wondering... Thanks again, I will keep the suggestion on a big tank in mind. You may be right about the big tank, I really want a yellow tang... so maybe a 75gallon will be in our near future, I just cant let jaime hear that! :D
