ahh yes, an update! Well, let me start off by saying there is a cat 4 hurricane coming straight for new orleans. I have anxiety problems as it is, but the fact that I have sunken this much money into livestock and whatnot, I just can't imagine what it would be like losing all of this to a power outage. So, today we are going to petsmart and getting some battery powered air pumps. And I think I will be setting up a power inverter/car battery to power the tank untill it runs out of juice. Wish us luck.
Alright, so our clowns went through their final formalin dip 2 days ago. They look amazing. The smaller one was the really sick one and he wouldn't eat since we got him. He now eats aggressively and is very playful with the other clownfish. They both look great and show all signs of great health. 2-3 more weeks in the quarantine tank and they should be ready to be added back into our tank.
Also, since our last update we have added a few things. For starters. We bought a new colony of zoanthids on a large branch rock and I fragged it. We used some aquastik and added the fragged branches to the other rocks around our tank. Here are some pictures of the zoanthids on our rocks.
And a full tank shot of what it looked like after the addition.
While we were scowering the local fish store's tanks we saw a ultra green yuma polyp. It was pretty large for one polyp but they wanted 20 dollars for it. I wantyed it bad and jaime did too but something was saying, wait and go read about them first. So, I vowed to come back and get it if we read about it and it was okay. A day later we went back to the LFS to get it and it was gone! So off to a different LFS we went, and we came across 2 big cups of ricordea some green some red. We got a polyp of green and a polyp of red. Placing them was NOT so easy though. We kept putting them on the rocks and they would JUMP off. Finally I got fed up and it was nearing time to go eat so I superglued them to the rock. Here is a pic of the red's first placing.
Feeding time was around the same time I was messing with the tank so when the thawed out mysis hit the water everyone was going crazy, too. Jaime was spotfeeding some things and we were able to feed all of our newly found brittle stars. I got a pic of one scowering the rocks one day. I cant believe how m any of these we have and they just appeared out of nowhere.
I got the idea of feeding a mysis to the green ricordea, boy did that go well!
And finally we placed them in a different location and were done with it. Here is their final placement.
So, like I said, wish us luck with the hurricane and our fishes. Hopefully everything will be fine!
