Any chance you could post a shot of the tank from Glasscages? I am considering getting one from them as well.
The tank is here, although I was not here it was delivered so Ed took all the pictures.. I will try and post them on Sunday!
So far so good. I had a peek at it last night, they build it exactly like I ordered it!

Hey! Huge congratulations on the imminent birth of your grandson! Just a wee bit more important than an aquarium, I guess ...:D

THANK YOU GlassReef, he is here and he is healthy and beautiful!

We have not unpacked it yet! can you believe it! The room was put on hold for almost a week due to the birth of our grandson!
so we are back on track this week, hopefully by Thursday the tank will be on the stand, which was build the week before, I have pictures, I just have to have Ed post the build!

Here is how our game room looks with both tanks moved out of the way

I can honstely say this is the 1st time this wall had no aquarium since the day we purchased this home

DSC_0015-1.jpg

so here we have the 120 reef on the left of the pool table and the 135 FOWRL on the right side.
DSC_0020-1.jpg

We drained the 120 down to about 3" of water we left the rock and fish in the tank, and were able to lift the 120 just enough to put furniture mover's under all 4 corners and SLIDE the tank to on the left side of the pool table:eek:

building the stand:
we used "yella wood" 2x6 & 2x8, with 3/4" plywood lid, we used 2-1/2 & 3-1/2 s.s. deck screws, and Elmer Nano glue and galvanized angle braces, and Bondo.

The opening for the new tank

here is the front ledge of the tank stand, we used 2x6 to shore it up

here it is integrated into the framing of the wall, between the existing home and the new room

after shoring both sides and middle supports of the new tank,
we are building the sides of the stand, accommodating the slope in the floor

here we used 3 2x6 glued and screwed together to support the center of the stand.

You're not going to leave one tank running first until your new tank is cycle??

Hi Ed,
Oh, yes, both tanks are still up and running!
We are going to set up the new tank and let it cycle before we moved anything.

Oooo.... no issues with your stand there....can take on an elephant!! Great to see it all coming along.

Ed,
We estimated the tank to weight about 4-5 thousand pounds, with water, sand & rock.
I asked the stand to be build to hold 8 thousand pounds just to be on the safe side:p

This is more like a fish wing than a fish room!

you're not the 1st person to say that.
I think it will much easier to maintain the tank with everything in one place. I currently maintain both tanks now. Ed see's how difficult it is to do the water changes on the tanks and I think he lost interest in his FOWLR tank so he decided to cross over!

He is such a good guy!

Update

Update

The stand is almost complete, this afternoon we will paint it with Kils and hopefully Saturday the tank will be placed on the stand.

The drywall (greenbaord) should be finished today and we will be putting FRB board up today and Friday.

The sumps & sand for the tank is here too.

The light rack is being made as we speak. Ed modified the rack a little so we are waiting for the parts to be delivered.
That too will be in place before the tank is installed.

I really don't want to work over the tank if you know what I mean.

GOOD NEWS! THE ROOM IS STARTING TO LOOK ALMOST FINISHED

Here is what happened today!

Hi Ed,
YES, finally we see that the end is near!

Today we will start sanding the walls and painting them with Kilz.
Ed wants to frame the tank opening with the FRB baord too.
I'm sure all this will be done while watching the football game!
Ed thinks we could have the tank in place by Friday!

I can't wait!
