Our 375g reef tank build & fish room

We had a delay in pouring the footers due to the weather here and we have to wait for the building inspector to inspect the footers before the concrete is poured.
Sooo...... the inspector is supposed to be here Monday and the concrete is supposed to be poured on Tuesday.

We ordered the new tank of Friday.
It will be delivered on the 29th of this month. HOWEVER it won't be ready for water until the middle of October:(
Beth at Glasscages.com advised us to wait because the seams are not will not be fully cured. I couldn't wait until the middle of November for the new tank to arrive:D
Our local reef club meeting is at our home in November, hopefully we will enjoy the room and tank.

We changed the design a little on the tank. We decided not to go with a CLS....... lots of other options like the Tunze's
Ed was worried about having too many holes drilled into the tank, since this will be OUR tank now, I had to let him have SOME kind of say in the design
We will have a center over flow with 5 holes drilled 3 1-1/2" for the return and 2 1" for drain. We have 2 sea swirls now so that should help keep the corners clean and we also have 2 6102 Tunze's with a controller.
We also decided not to build a steel stand, instead we will construct a stand using 4X4 and concrete blocks. We had to make some kind of stand for the tank rest on since the delivery is sooner than we expected. So that's is not the reason for a new stand;)

Our footer might get delayed again:mad2: :mad2: :mad2:
it has been raining most of the morning here:mad:
maybe, just maybe, it will clear up enough for this afternoon's pour!

Our footer's are dug and the plumber came today and did a lot of plumbing!

tomorrow the inspector will be here and Thursday the slab will be poured! :D

I'm going to have the GC completely close the room in before he come's into the rest of the house, so I will be able to move the 120 into a temp. spot in the fish room instead of the middle of our game room.

Our tank is being delayed, they don't won't to ship that soon after manufacturing:( well better safe than sorry...

Now Ed is having them ship the tank to our home, instead of us driving almost 2 hours for pick up.

Hey Sandy how is the customer service with GC going?I have read nothing but horror stories about there customer after customers have taken delivery of there tanks.I really hope you dont have to go thru anything like that.Personally I would have never even given them the chance to upset me.

Make sure you inspect the tank with a microscope before you take delivery of it.If you find something wrong with it afterwords, you may not get the customer service you may be expecting. Also if you need some extra hands moving it in,I got two of them that are here to help.

Here are a few pictures of the progress so far........

I wish I could have a floor drain and two! Did you say two sinks!

Awesome!

Yes, I'm very excited about the floor drain too!
I don't have to worry about spilling water ever again.
YES, I said 2 sinks..... I wanted 1 sink for all of the fish stuff and 1 sink to wash my hands.

I have 2 little bitty dogs 1 weighs 6 lbs and the other is 8 lbs.
I was thinking about bathing them in the other sink too!
Not sure if that is a good idea or not :o

anyone have an opinion on this?

This morning the footers did not pass inspection because the plastic was not in the footers.

So the concrete guys had to come back out put the plastic in the footers, call the inspector again, it passed that time , and the new slab was poured!

the contractor (GC) changed the depth of the concrete slab to 8" deep under the tank, instead of 6" deep which is to code.

So now the concrete will cure all weekend and next week they start framing the room.

The doors and windows have been ordered so it looks like everything is on schedule, God and weather permitting.
