Phil,

What model Tunze do you have? I have a 72 which is also only 48" long but is wider. I was looking at the 6000.

I have a 72 bow and a Tunze 6060 which works great...lots of flow.

What I meant to say was I have a 72 gallon tank. :p

I have a 70g tank that is only 36" long and I have a Tunze 6000 with a 7091 controller. Without the controller I think I would have way to much flow. I have one setting at about 50% and the other almost all the way down.

We had the 6060 (no controller) in Bob's tank 48" long and it was great.
I got the same setup as Dennis has for the new tank, and did notice some dead spots....that's why I got the seio to add to it.

I think you'd be fine with the 6060 Brian. It's a lot less costly than any of the programmable ones.

When I broke down my tank, I swapped the Tunze's, so now Bob has the 6000 and I sold the 6060.

I have a Seio 820... I really haven't had it running on the tank very long, there have been long periods where I haven't used it.
It has stopped working for me a few times. I have taken out the impeller and soaked in vinegar overnight a couple times, but find that if I unplug it (say during a feeding) then it can stop again. I also found that it is the loudest pump I own. After about a month of operating it made a buzzing sound that was annoying.

On the other hand, it moves a lot of water for not too much wattage, and the price was right. :)

Here's some pictures of Bob's crab. He said leave it to him to find something else with stripes.

I use a Seio 620 in my FW tank and I use one in my Brute can that I mix SW in and I have never had any problems with them.

My white crab bit the dust last night. The shrimp thought it was tasty.:D

thanks pat. i havn't deceided his fate yet. he's in a tank with other critters right now

Well the pointy claws tells you it doesn't belong in the reef tank. You have enough tanks that it can stay elsewhere at least.

Thanks

Thanks

Thanks everyone for the feedback on the Powerhead/Tunze pumps. It was helpful.

I'll be ordering aTunze but now I just need to decide what one. I know there's an upgrade in my future so I'm leaning toward the 6000. :D

Something else you may need to think about is where to get it. When I was looking for one there was none to be found. That may not be the case anymore though.

One of RC's Sponsor's has the 2006 models in stock with Free shipping over $175. Not going to be hard to hit with Tunze stuff. :D

I'm in the process of cleaning out the tank. I got this far as of yesterday. I have to do more yet. The guy buying the tank is in no hurry, so I am not going crazy trying to get it done.
The only thing I can say, is there has been NO ODOR whatsoever in removing the sand.....so I don't know what that smell was the other day when we were getting the rock out. :p

The pistol molted again.

I saw the one you got. It wasn't that large....maybe Ã"šÃ‚½-1". Greenish color. I just didn't know if there were any more in any of the other rocks you got from me.

I hear you about the sand. I have one of the salt buckets sitting here filled with sand for a couple of days now, with no smell at all.
I was dreading scooping the sand out because of what I smelled on Saturday. But nada....nothing. So I will be nice and just say I don't know what the odor was that day.
