Our Tbs

sounds like what one of the gorilla crabs did in our tank when it was trying to clean out a little cave in the rock. It sat there and used it's claws like shovels and just shoveled and shoveled the silt and sand out of that hole. We got a video movie of it but no stills. It was too funny!! Spring cleaning crab. :)

This isn't "sea monkeys", maintaining the tank will take some time and patience. Good luck!

I LOVED sea monkeys! Lots of fun (kind of), I kept a tank in my dorm room during college. Not really exciting but they were pets....sort of

Pat- any full tank shots of the TBS tank? Are you happy with the aquascaping now?

Prometheus- hope your wait isn't too long. The waiting is definitely the hardest part. You'll have to post lots of pictures when you finally get your rock. We LOVE pictures :)

I hope the guy who was taking the other rock didn't think it was the rock smelling.

Nope ;) That's why I took a whiff of the rock as I was taking it out of the tank, Pat. It's all in my tank now, along with the fish, shrimp and all the corals I picked up, and they're all doing great:

Of course he couldn't have been more than 5 minutes away and I turn around and see it (the RG) swimming all around.

Naturally ;) He must have been hiding in the sand, as I said. If you want to do a halfway meet, I'll take him off your hands. Lemme know.

Yes Bob, there's 35-40lbs. more rock that needs to go. It's not TBS though. But it sure is nicely shaped!;) Not much coralline on it as this was underneath, but it would color up nicely in a few months.

Jan, I meant the guy from NJ who came for some rock. It was when he was here that I smelled the gross smell. I know all the rock sold was fully cured and not smelly. Nobody should have any problems adding it directly to their tank. All of you took it home covered in water too, so cleaning the silt off and dropping it into your tanks should be fine.
Glad to hear everything is doing well for you. It was nice to meet you. Thanks for showing us pictures of your tank. It looks great!
That sun coral you took will really open nicely for you after the lights are out. It opens more than the better shaped one I kept. I'm sure in due time, it will fill out even more and become a beauty.
I don't get out very often, so I'm not sure about meeting half way about the gramma. I'll have to get back to you on that one. Maybe someone closer to me would want it.

pat, adding the sand really clouded the water, but this morning everything looks fine. i put the amm alert in the tank and it's not reading anything. i really screwed up my 33 trying to get the cal up. like a dummy i used 2 different products and the water turned milky. i did a 50% change last nite that didn't really help. i'll do another later today.

Glad it's looking good today Bob. Send me a picture to see and post.

Sorry to hear about the milky looking water. Was it the different products or just overdosing that caused it?

I haven't heard back from the NJ guy to see how he made out. Hopefully he'll let me know today.
I told him there were some pistols in the rock he was taking, and he seemed kind of concerned. I told him they were fine to have in there and not like mantis.

I finally got a full shot of the RBTA before it went yesterday. Although the water was cloudy from moving and taking rock out of the tank when I took the picture, and it has some silt on it, it's still pretty.

We have the tank scaped the way we want right now, so we won't be adding any more rock.
Moving the rocks around to get it the way we wanted, I lost my favorite zoa. :( I am really bummed out about it.
But anyway...here's what the tank looks like now. Once the coralline picks up, it will look even better.

There's still lots of open space, which the fish really love. It doesn't look cluttered and there are nice caves and crevices for everyone to be happy.

Looks great Pat. I really like the cave on the right side of the picture. Glad you and your husband were able to agree on the aquascaping so you're both happy! Sorry to hear about your zoa though......I suppose it COULD be a reason to order some new stuff :D

Pat, I come back from being out of town for a week and find you have shut down one of your tanks! I can sure understand that . I have a 45G SW in addition to the 75G and I find they sure take a lot of time and monitoring. My husband was responsible for taking care of them while I was away and I had to write a long list of daily things each tank required. He did a good job though and didn't kill anything.:D

I almost wish I could sell some of my larger TBS rocks to free up some space in the 75G. Knowing what I know now I could have gone with a smaller pkg with TBS. Maybe a 50G pkg. Oh well, maybe I should start another tank and devote full time to these tanks.

I'm really sad about the zoa too. I went back to look for it since it has to be in there, and still couldn't find it. I was moving rocks around to see if I could spot it, but no luck.:(
The only good thing that came out of it is I got this creature:

I guess one way to get these guys out is to loose a $35 zoa frag.

Pat, did your clowns ever host in the RBTA? I have been looking at the combo of 2 clowns with RBTA special on Reef Science web site. Almost tempted to order this for my 46G.

Good luck with your hunt Pat.

Quick question for those using a Phosban reactor.......what are you using for a feed pump?

Maxi-Jet 400 and I cut the flow some.

You find that to be enough? No problems with back pressure on the pump? That's what I was looking at too but with it rated at 110 gph and topping out at 3 feet, I wasn't sure how it would hold up.

That is the recommended pump I believe. The directions say to have a slow bubbling effect in the phosban and if I run it completely open it seems to be too much. My pump is pumping across my 30" long sump and maybe only 2" of rise. I haven't had a problem with mine and it has been running continuously since I got it. Now that my phosphate seems to be in acceptable range I may run some carbon in it.

They never did Carla......
That's where I got my combo from. Everything was nice and healthy.

i still have that creem colored baby bta, altho its growing fast
Does it try and host your clown or is it still too small?

Look at the black line on this clown. I never realized how crooked it was until I saw it on this picture:

Here's the brain. It seems saggy because we just moved the rock in a different orientation than it's been used to. It needs to firm up.
