I have one of those worms (orange and with white frills) - can only find it at night and I gotta be fast
is that a curly anemone underneath the hammer - one that you did not necessairly buy but not one of the ones that multiply too fast (aptisa sp?)? I have a couple and one of them actually moved 4 inches while I was away for Christmas. Does anyone know if they are dangerous to make contact with the hammer as mine are coing sort of close lately
AND - who is and who is not using flash for these pretty pics?

I couldn't agree with you more. I have seen it a few (very few) times completely out in the open....and other times even when it starts to come out, it KNOWS the camera, and goes back into hiding.<a href=showthread.php?s=&postid=6438762#post6438762 target=_blank>Originally posted</a> by krajacich

Nick, that's one of the curley cues that came with the TBS. I had more when I first got the rock, but a few have disappeared. This one didn't.
Not sure which, but one will sting the other. I'd venture to say (but don't know if I am correct) that the curley cue would win out over the hammer. I say this because of course we'd want the hammer to live.

awesome pictures, everyone!! I keep telling Brett I need a new camera but he insists that our camera takes great closeups. Yeah right, show me!! LOL
We found out yesterday that our red spotted hawkfish is not a red spotted, but a falcos. We had made a fish list way back in the beginning and had not looked at pictures in many months. When we finally got the wrasse in the tank, our final fish was to be the red spotted hawkfish. Well, we went to the lfs and saw a cute little hawkfish with red spots all over it. We asked "is that a red spotted hawkfish?" and were told "yeah". So we got him and put him in our tank. While looking through our books yesterday to get an idea of how big it will get, and what it eats and when etc, we said...hmmm...this does not look like our Hawkeye, it must be a juvenile. So, while flipping through the book trying to find a pic of a juvenile, we found the picture of the Falcos hawkfish. Yeppers, that's exactly what our little Hawkeye looks like. There goes our Caribbean Reef Biotope!!!! Sheesh!!!!!

Tunze in 90 gal?

Hi All,
Hard to believe it's coming up on a year with my TBS - things are looking good in my tank, with my current focus on battling hair algae... I think I've got it under control, if not eliminated, but it's sure not as much fun dealing with something like HA as it was just watching cool stuff grow and flourish as I did for the first six months!
Pat (and others with Tunze's): I got some Marine Depot gift certificates for xmas and was thinking of getting a Tunze setup with them (not enough $$ in the certs, but enough to perhaps make a Tunze do-able).
My question is: I have a 90 gallon tank, and right now I have several powerheads blowing across various directions to create random flow and keep water moving behind the rocks and corners. I think I can only afford a single Tunze powerhead, is that a good idea - or would it be too uni-directional and actaully be not as effective as the various powerheads I have now?
Any recommendations on size of Tunze and a good way to place it in a 90 gallon tank?

Michael, we had a Tunze 6060 in our 90, and it worked great.
I had a Tunze 6000 in my 102g, and I found I needed more flow...but that tank was wider then the 90. I added a Seio 1500 to that tank.
Since I sold my tank, we swapped Tunzes since the 6000 was programmable, and I would loose more money selling that one. Bob now has the 6000 and it works, but I do see it could use a little more flow directly beneath the 6000. I'm not sure, but I may have even seen a little cyano starting to grow in a couple of spots yesterday afternoon.
I looked this morning, and it's gone.....so I'm not sure what it was I saw. We could also try turning the flow up a little more and see if that makes any difference.
I would say if you don't have a lot of $$ and/or don't want to add a lot to your GC...then I'm almost positive you'd be really happy with the 6060. I know Danielle has the 6060 in her 72 bow, and she's very happy with it.
Also, being you already have numerous ph's in the tank, keep one on the side.....and after you have the Tunze set up for a while, if you feel you need a little additional flow, you can always add one that you had.

Sally, so what are you going to do now? Are you going to try to remove the fish so you can keep your theme? Make it the only "exception" to the tank, or just get the pretty corals you always wanted now that it isn't exclusively carribean??? So many questions.
The fish will stay. There is absolutely no way we would be able to get it out short of removing all the rock. There are just too many places for it to hide while we try to catch it.
I think we will continue to work on our theme, just kind of imagine that the little hawkfish worked his way into the caribbean attempting to find warmer water!! :lol:
I'm sure we will eventually end up getting away from the theme, but in the meantime, we will continue to attempt to develop it.

Some pictures for today. I'm trying to make sure we have pictures posted on each page, so those who don't read and only look at pictures are amused.
Even though this is blurry, it shows the cleaner with a bunch of green eggs inside. The silly shrimp doesn't come out at a good enough angle for me to get a crisp shot.
Here are 2 different hermits. One a blue leg and one a hitchhiker that came with part 1.

We tried again 3 days ago...same thing no vis.......and the weather has been really bad the last few days, small craft warnings, gale force winds, and severe coastal erosion from the huge swells.
It can only get better we hope! We have not been able to produce rock for over 45 days now.
When the weather and vis gives us a break, there will bet lots of phone calls to people waiting!
