Wow, where have you been stranger? We went through about 6 claws and they all rusted out....so we gave up on them. We don't have many gorillas left anymore, so it's not as essential as it once was.

Here's a couple of pictures of the fish:

How is it spreading.....tall or wide or both? Do you have any pictures?
Everywhere! I thought is grew like a branch but it doesn't, it spreads. I epoxied it to my rock, now the rock has the fire coral on it. I guess eventually it would take over the whole rock. Not good!

I can get a pic tonight.

Hmmm...sounds like what xenia, star corals and corky fingers do.
When I had the corky finger starting to grow all over the rock, I didn't want or like it, so I pulled the rock out and scraped it off the best I could. The parts that I couldn't scrape off, I just broke the rock and ditched it so it wouldn't over take the tank. Yours is probably in a place where you can't pull the rock, right?
Pictures would be good! :)

My xenias spread but I can pull them off. I don't know how to get this off.

I also am having a problem with some of my corals losing there color. The look like they are bleached. My brain, moon and star corals are getting lighter. My brain coral is just about totally white. I wonder if the lights are bleaching them.

Here is an old pic just after I put it on the rock.

Now imagine all the rock that it is on is now covered. That orange sponge to the right is almost gone.

Check with Brian (CirolanidHunter). I know he had some fire coral and back in December he sold some or all of it. He has also been doing a bit of fragging, according to his thread. :) He might be able to help you with fragging it or some suggestions for control.

I just went back and looked, and I don't have any pictures of the corky finger taking over the rocks it was near. It was in the back of the tank I sold. I removed it a few weeks before I decided to sell the tank.
But I do have some other pictures I haven't posted yet. :p

Dennis, is it possible that perhaps you need new bulbs? Could that be causing the color change maybe?
