Mr lucky
Well with baby number 2 here my wife and I have decided we are out of room in our house. Moving is not an option so the fish tank has gotta go. Here is an old pic of our current 250g marineland DD. It is sitting right in the middle of the living room with no room for the kids to play around.
So We don't want to get out of the hobby so the only option is to go BIGGER. I am giving half of the garage up to make a fish/living room. This is going to be kinda slow over the next few weeks as I get a few more things ordered and wait for our tax return to come.
New plans, room will be 10'x 23' with a 10'x7' room behind the tank for ro/di, QT tank, frag system, ect. The tank will be 6'x4'x2' pensulia drilled for a closed loop. I am still waiting on a quote to come back to order the tank. Sump will be a 125g-180g tank (looking for a used tank now) with a dart return. I will have an oceanmotions 4-way (not sure what pump yet) for flow. Lighting will be my 2 400w halides (already have them) and either a 250w to put over the clam or a DIY led not sure on that one yet.At one time there was a wood burning stove in the garage and the vent pipe is still there. I am going to hook a fan to that and run it on a humidistat to help vent out the air from the room. I am going to use a Friedrich Kuhl through wall ac/heat to take care of the havc in the room
Ok so here are some pics of us starting in the garage. We started with putting 7/16" plywood on the ceiling to give support when we are in the attic (fell threw once with drywall) plus we are going to use ceiling tiles to cover it to look nice.
Next started with the dividing wall so I can move all the garage stuff to the new side.
Over the next few weeks we put in insulation and ripped out the drywall that was in the garage. We found some wiring issues as well as stains and dents so it was easier to take out the drywall and start fresh. I also got a good deal on a ceiling fan so I put that in there as well. I put the first coat of water, mold, mildew paint on the ceiling. This is in case we get moisture behind the tiles hopefully it will stop mold from growing.
So at this point I am waiting on next payday to pick up some drywall and supplies to post more pics. Feel free to ask questions, post comments, concerns, ideas.
