Out with the old, in with the new.

Well scratch out Oceanic, they won't make tanks 4' across :sad1: Hum looks like I am going to have to research a few more tank builders.

I highly recommend Felix at Reef Savvy, he is a pleasure to work with and builds awesome tanks. Its a small operation though so there is a bit of a wait. My 225g won't be ready until beginning of March.

Hum this is the first I have heard of him. I will send for a quote, thanks.

Well picked up a few things today. One of the guys on a local site is breaking down his tank so I picked up a used dart an oceans motion 4 way.

I also picked up a 150g to use for my sump.

I also worked out a deal with a guy on here that was selling the exact tank we are looking for. I should be going in a few weeks to pick it up.

OK here is some progress this weekend. Now that I know what tank we are getting and the height of it will be I went ahead and built the wall that will separate the main room from the fish room. The opening on the right side is for the entrance door and the opening in the middle will allow me to access the back of the tank from inside the room. When you walk into the main room it will look as though the tank is sitting flat aginst the wall. I also got the wiring ran and a light for that room installed. Next weekend I am hoping to get the drywall bought and started.

The walls are insulted as well as the attic so that will help. We are using a friedrich kuhl ac/heat through wall unit to heat/cool the room. If that won't keep up I will install a propane furnace if needed. The room only being 23'x10' it shouldn't be a too bad to heat. Right now there is only a plywood door between that room and the garage next to it and the small heater I have out there now will maintain about 65 so when I add 500g of 80deg water I hope I it will be ok.

Well time for a short update. I am going to pick up the drywall and 2 new doors for the room tomorrow. I am also going to pick up a used Iwaki wmd-20lxrt to use on my water mixing station. I will post pics as I get stuff picked up.

Well the drywall is up and I am going to start the mud work today. I will have pics later tonight. I am planning on picking up the tank on the 12th so I need to have the walls painted and the ceiling tiles installed before the tank is in place. I am going to paint the back room floor with epoxy paint once the walls are done. I will also start planning the sump location once the floor is painted. I will post pics as I go.

Well this weekend I got the two entry doors installed, all the drywall hung and started the mud work. I also got the cut out for the new ac/heat unit I am going to order in a week or so.

Well I have the first coat of primer on. I am hoping to have the paint done by Sunday night so I can start the ceiling tiles and molding for the ceiling. I want to have all of the over head stuff done before the tank comes in. I also picked up a used Iwaki WMD-20RLXT to use for the top off/water change station. I will shoot some pics of the walls when the paint is done. I am going next weekend to get the tank, can't wait.

Well here is an update from this weekend. I got the paint done, ceiling tiles up and started to paint the back door. I will finish the door tomorrow and start the crown molding after that. I still need to put the trim around the lights before the tanks gets here.

That looks like a familiar color :) Looks good can't wait till Saturday to move the tank into its new home.

Yea I am very excited to get it home. I want to see what it will look like in the room so I can start to finish the trim and floors. I still need to get the new sump drilled but I think I will wait until the stand is finished.

Well I started the crown tonight. This is my first attempt at hanging crown molding. Its a lot harder than I had expected but I will get the hang of it.
