Outdoor reef ponds

AFAIK, this had been asked before; one of the impossible things to accomplish is to keep temperature stable due to weather outside. Also, evap rate on a sunny day would be quite large.

Temperature control will be quite problematic around here. Very cold in the winter, and during the summer it could overheat. Also cover will be needed to control/prevent FW inputs from rainwater. Otherwise, it's just a big fish tank that is a hole in the ground instead of a glass box in your living room.

Need to live in southern cali to pull this one off :p.

Although an interesting idea, I have never seen one pulled off that I would actually want at or around my own personal residence.

I've never seen an outdoor reef pond succeed but I have seen an indoor reef pond. It's been a while but I do remember that it was a costly endeavour for the owner.
