Outer Orbit T5 ballast won't fire

I just bought the Outer Orbit (1x250w +4 T5) fixture and received it today from That Fish Place. I replaced the stock T5s and plugged it in and the front T5s will not fire. There is a small flicker in the front bulb (nothing in the second) and then nothing.

The back T5s work fine.

Has anyone had this problem before? I assume it's a faulty ballast, but I wanted to see if anyone new of a quick fix before I packed it back up for return to the vendor.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Swap the two lamps that fire with the two that dont and vice versa. That will confirm that it isnt a bad bulb.

LOL. I just did that before I logged on. You were right.

I initially switched one bulb out (same problem) but it was the wrong bulb I switched. It looks like a have a bad (new) fiji purple.

That's a relief.

I didn't realized that a bad bulb would prevent the others on the same ballast from firing.

Yep, one bad bulb will prevent the ballast from firing any of the bulbs. With most ballasts anyway.

Bad bulb isnt uncommon. Ive had a few new ones that were bad over the years. Happens with the good bulbs and the cheapies. Dont give up on the KZ Fiji Purples, they are good quality bulbs and a very neat looking bulb. You just happened to get a bad one.

Glad it's figured out. Much easier to send back a bulb than the entire fixture and much more comforting as well, Im sure
:)
