BINGO!! I bet that's it. That would explain the "stick" it was attached to. I'll have to ask the previous owner if they had those. Thx!

OK here we go again! Just added liverock to my new fuge and I saw 3 of these dudes...they are about 1 cm long and crawl like a worm and those tentacle things move none stop.

Hi Drako,

[welcome]

This thread specifically is about IDing many popular critters, as well as their needs.

I would suggest you start a new thread in this same forum with your question, mainly because it is a different topic entirely.

To raise alkalinity and pH at the same time, you can use baked baking soda (spread out evenly on a cookie sheet and placed in your oven at 300F for 45-60 minutes, then allowed to cool). Take the baked baking soda, and store it in a clean airtight container. When you need to use a little, take a teaspoon or two, add it to a cup of RO water and stir until completely dissolved. Add to your tank gradually a little at a time, watch (or testing) for pH to make sure you don't overdose and spike the parameters.

Thank you Mark for the info. I'll try it. I'm sorry i gess i did something wrong, I gess I should have also told everyone I'm also very new with computers. Drako50

Just set up my 10g yesterday. Found this on some live rock. Rock came from the Caribbean. It's mushy and when I first pushed on it a bit, it squirted me.

What is this?

That would be a sea squirt. They are harmless filter feeders that tend to live in benthic zones with lesser flow. Steve Tyree did a full presentation on these little guys at MACNA a number of years ago. They are kinda neat. I have a few hitchhikers of them myself, but occasionally you'll even find them for sale at the LFS. (Local Fish Store)

Hey there.... I have the strangest thing happening in my new aquarium- I only have live rock right now, and it's been cycling for a a little over a week now:

Once in a while (seems to happen when I turn the lights on) tiny particles (peanut shaped light colored) start shooting out of a little hole in one of the live rocks.... almost like a gopher cleaning it's hole.... but the particles are way to uniform... they look like eggs... they are about the density of the water.... though they slowly fall to the floor after a while. any ideas??

It could be spawning by worms or snails within the rock. Sounds interesting, but I bet it would be hard to photograph.

It could also be some shrimp (mantis, for example) cleaning out its home. However, you said uniform in size, so I'm thinking eggs of some sort.

Seems creepy to me.... I've looked up some of the pix on your site, and others to see which worm it could be and I keep getting a bit too grossed out! I'm not much of a worm guy.

I probably won't know whether it's a bad worm or good worm until they're much bigger eh? I HAVE seen some tiny worms, about 1/4 inch long but I don't see any characteristics that'd help ID them. if those are eggs for worms.... that's alot of worms!!!

Don't worry too much. We have all kinds of good guys in our tanks. The bad ones tend to be pretty obvious. My ID page has plenty of stuff you can review, and clicking on the thumbnails will give you more information to consider.
