What species of Caulerpa? Generally there is not much you can do, aside from manual pruning and/or cooking your rock. Not many, if any tangs/herbivores will eat it.
Good luck. I would advise NEVER using caulerpa if there is any chance it can get into your display tank. Remember, if it goes sexual, you will have a bigger problem. But, of course, this forum is about fish.
Yellow tangs and Foxfaces tear apart grape Caulerpa. I used to have loads in my sump and would occasionally dump some in the DT. No worries about it taking over. I have some other Caulerpa in my sump now and they like that just as much.
Combined with a shorter light cycle, carbon/phosban reactor running 24/7, and adding an extra light shining through the side of my sump to bump up my chaeto growth in my fuge I've almost rid myself of it!
