Overflow box help

Maybe we are doing something wrong, but having issues keeping both u tubes flowing. It seems to keep spitting out one or the other at any given time. Pictures show a small air bubble that formed within minutes of it being completely clear of air bubbles...

Need to up your flow so it pushes the air through. Turn your return pump up if you are restricting it till the air pushes through.

I completely disagree with Seeady66. It's almost impossible to force the air out of the 'U' tube with flow once it's caught in there.

You're getting air in the tube because you are pulling bubbles up from the intake side of the system (in the tank side). You need to raise the water level (as Seeady66 said) or lower the box deeper into the tank so the flow into the box is smoother and doesn't create bubbles that get sucked up by the 'U' tube and trapped at the top.

Some air is almost inevitable and there are a variety of ways to deal with them. But that is a long term thing. I used to need to clear mine ever 10 days to 2 weeks until I added AquaLifter pumps.

Bubbles only start on the inlet side if the return is not pumping enough water to push the air through.once there is a bubble that size u need to suck it out. Never use an aqua lifter for a u tube overflow it is not needed. Once set up right a u tube overflow never needs priming. I have the tunze overflow with 2 u tubs I haven't had to touch it in 2 years. So just try adjusting the pump. It takes a bit Of time but once you have it set right they are quite safe.

I was having the same problem till I did what Seeady66 told you to do. Once I did that I was good to go

I used to put a small piece of solid air tubing in the U and use a Toms Aqua Lifter to get the air bubbles out if you are still having problems do what they all said above.

To me this is the ONLY way a over the top over flow box is anywhere near safe to use..

Ramping up the water moving thru the over flow box will usually only slightly help...

Using one of these. Simple, cheap, and it works great. Helps to automatically restart the siphon after a power outage as well.
