Overflow box question

A few weeks ago I purchased a 125 Lee Mar tank and the Lfs told me that the overflow box did not have any notches in it for the return line and he recommended that I drill a hole in to place a bulk head and then my loc a line. I am to do this right below the teeth in the center. I'm trying to make sense of this.

What is everyone's thoughts on drilling into a overflow box?

The only holes are inside the overflow box at the bottom of the tank.

I have the same tank and something to think about before you drill, Where will your drain point be if you experience a power failure. I drilled my hole about an inch and a half below the spill level. It worked out fine but I do not have a backup power supply. If there is a power failure, The tank will drain to the sump to the level of (in my case) the lock line fitting of where my return water comes out. If you go too low you will overflow the sump and spill out. Also you can drill small holes in the top of your lock line for air to stop the siphon. Your call but in my case I almost went too low!

I was planning on drilling a hole into the overflow box to install the bulk head for the lock a line return nozzles. I was planning on drilling right below the overflow teeth in the front center

i have a leemar 60 with the same overflow. i used both holes to do a herbie drain and came up over the back with the 2 returns. keeps them from siphoning back into the sump, cant see them with the back painted, and the herbie is nice and quiet.
