Overflow capacity

What determines the capacity of an overflow, please?
How do I know if I am exceeding the recommended maximum flow?

Do you have a pic of the overflow or its dimensions? Weir size, length and the overflow drain pipe size are all factors.

It's an Eshopp's PF-Nano
4"x2.5"x8"
3/4" Bulkhead
rated up to 200 gph

I'd like to understand those factors, if you would explain please.
