Overflow Cover

I have a 90 gal. tank with a corner overflow. I would like to put a cover over it to help cut down on the noise. The problem is both overflow pipes at 2 or 3 inches taller than the black plastic overflow. Has anyone done or seen a DIY on something like this? Any help is appreciated. Thanx in advance

I'm trying to picture how the overflow pipes extend that far above the top of the overflow. I guess it must be the air vent end of a T fitting? If so, then you can cut a pair of holes in the cover, though difficult to make them snug enough to dampen noise. Can you redesign the top of the drain pipes to nit have them stick up. That's what I did on mine.

I am looking to do something like this since I have little air bubble popping right as it enters the overflow. Thus cause a lot of salt creep on the top back of the tank. If I am working below the over flow I can almost feel a small mist hitting at times.

Anyone else have this issue? Will a simple cover cause any other issues. Don't want to fix one problem only to cause another?
